Why doesn't God cure amputees?

TerranIV

I just heard this question posed the other day:

"If god can miraculously cure people who are suffering from disease, why doesn't god cure amputees?"

I heard this from the guys over at whywontgodhealamputees.com and I was amazed at why I never thought of that before. If god has special powers and can do "miracles" why does he/she/it NEVER cure amputees? What is it about people with disease which makes them candidates for god's mercy but not amputees? Are starfish more loved by god than humans?

I'm curious for theists' and deists' answers to this question.

An organism has to be the right species and have the right disease in order to be miraculously cured. You see, God is a lot like a doctor and a vet. Some things about cats, he can fix, but some things he can't, but he can fix those things in humans, but not always. He can do miracles, but not all of the miracles. Only some of them.

I heard he had to downsize a couple of million years ago. His work load was getting too crazy so he decided some things needed to be cut from the list of things to do. Unfortunately amputees did not make that list. Simple really...

It is all apart of his divine plan.
You know, the same plan that we mere mortal humans can screw up merely by wearing a condom....

There is nothing to "cure". You can live without an arm or leg. However, if part of your liver is cut off, it will grow back.

What?!
All the deaths ordered by God in the Bible and you think him squeamish of a little harm?

God would have to cure through one of us but we don't have the power that Jesus had yet.
Remember how Jesus healed the ear of the Roman soldier that was cut off by one of Jesus' followers.
If we had enough faith (which has many ramifications) we could do just about anything. It is probably not within our reach in the current state of our condition.
Prayers can heal and again there are conditions that we don't fully understand.
Thoughts are things and have an effect on us in many ways. imo.

You're amazed? You don't get around much, do you? That's got to be the atheists' favorite question. The fact that there is actually a website by that name is hilarious. I don't know which is the most obnoxious, fundy Christians or fundy athiests.

I don't know if this has already been addressed yet but there is a really simple answer. But I can understand why people pose such a question. I remember when I was like Huh?

YouTube - The Wire - Herc and Carver HUH!?

But God doesnt exist. Its just made up. Like unicorns and pixies. Yeah you can scream at me til your blue in the face that until I find my own lamp and rub it and see the genie for myself that I cant say genies dont exist. But its just silly.

So god is not gonna step up mate. Historically speaking he never has. We humans do though. But were a modest lot and dont like to take credit when we do something good and if we do something bad well thats not us... Who could it be? Satan maybe?

Why doesnt god do boo? The real question is why dont leprechauns do it!!! They got the gold and everything they could want. They have the ability. Why dont they just step up?

Amputation is not a disease. A disease is living matter, so I guess God can erradicate it.

Should we not rather amputee ourselves?

Matthew 18:8

If your hand or your foot causes you to sin cut it off and throw it away. It is better for you to enter life maimed or crippled than to have two hands or two feet and be thrown into eternal fire. 9And if your eye causes you to sin, gouge it out and throw it away. It is better for you to enter life with one eye than to have two eyes and be thrown into the fire of hell.

So then..a place in the kingdom is highly sought after by those who understand its worth, and would rather loose a limb than gain one if it means going to heaven.

An attempt at keeping down incidents of repeated self mutilation?

You cut it off... he grows it back... you cut it off again... he grows it back again...
Surely you see the futility of it all. :cover:

Miracles are BS in which people often do not understand the medical side of things. Its like wow, he has a disease, he is going to die. When he doesn't its so amazing that God did it. I find it rather convenient for Christians that a lot of popular miracles happened before modern technology and science.

And yet, would God want to promote laziness? So that when we start to question He'll just appear and go "Wow, wow I'm still here!" If you search for truth, you'll find it. Search in books, in personal religious accounts, on the Internet, search and you'll find truth.
