world will end 2012? obama the anti christ?

I continuously hear people talk about the world ending in 2012, and that obama is the anti christ...?

i know its nuts..but my question, is where are these beliefs derived from?

what does the bible talk about when referring to the anti christ? are there specifics even mentioned about his qualities/rise to power?

where do people derive the idea that the world will end 2012? is it because the myan calendar ends at that point in time?

I heard a girl in a coffee shop the other day in disucssion with a male friend. She expressed her wish that Hilary had won the nomination. He asked her why she preferred Hilary, pressing her on and recieving no real content (she seemed not to know the difference policy wise between candidates). Finally she concluded that Obama was a smooth talker and that the whole world liked him, and followed with "and if you've read the Left Behind series, you would know..."

I wonder how influential that series really is.

I don't know about the anti-christ but yeah, 2012 is the year the maya calendar end...

For all of you wackos out there who thinks the end of the world is coming in 3 years, here is some ammo for you: Did you know that huge solar storms are scheduled for 2012? spoooky! :run:

As long as Earth's magnetic field's are intact, can Solar winds hit earth? I thought they bounced of...

Anyway, just silly TBH. Why would the world end because of a Christian belief? Silly.

Actually it's all my fault. I started the rumor and before I could say it was a joke, I started hearing Glen Beck talk about it. *sighs*

So again, I apologize. I really did vote for him, even though he is in fact the antichrist. :angel2:

666, the mark of the Beast (Anti-Christ) in Revelation is described as the name of a man and is the product of Hebrew Numerology. So lets take a look at what it actually is:

נ = 50
ר = 200
ו = 6
נ = 50
ק = 100
ם=60
ר = 200

This spells "nrwn qsr", Hebrew for "Neron Kesar" which, when translated, means Nero Caesar. The description of the Beast, among other things, points directly to Nero and the Roman Empire but, as if that isn't enough, we also have translation on our side. Greek manuscripts of Revelation have the number 616 instead of 666. Why? Because the Latin form of Nero Caesar adds up to 616. This proves that even the ancients understood the mark of the Beast to be a reference to Nero Caesar.

Lets also take a look at just one of those "other things":

In Revelation chapter 17 we read of a beast with seven heads and a woman sitting upon it. An angel deciphers it's meaning in verses 9-18. The angel says that the seven heads represent seven hills and seven kings (also that five have fallen, one still reigns, and one is yet to come but reigns for only a short time) and the woman represents a great city which rules over all kingdoms. So what does this mean?

Seven Hills = The seven hills of Rome. (Cermalus, Cispius, Fagutal, Oppius, Palatium, Sucusa and Velia)

Five Fallen Kings = The predecessors of Nero. (Julius, Augustus, Tiberius, Caligula, and Claudius)

One King That Is = The current Caesar when John was writing Revelation. (Nero)

One King That Will Be But Reigns For Only A Short Time = Nero's successor. (Galba, who reigned for only 7 months and 7 days)

The Woman That Is A City = The city of Rome itself.

And why shouldn't it be Nero and the Roman Empire? Afterall, Jesus did tell the apostles that what people describe as "the end times" would come during their generation. (See Matthew chapter 24, Mark chapter 13, and Luke Chapter 21). Seems to me that these prophecies aren't about the end of the world and the literal return of Christ at all but the end of the persecution of Christians and the establishment of Christianity as a major world religion.

The idea that Obama is the Anti-Christ described in Revelation is laughable and only circulated by those who hate him. Don't believe them.

That is the only reason I can think of. A lot of people don't understand that just because the Mayan Long Count Calendar ends at 2012 doesn't mean that the Mayan's believe that the world would end in 2012. It represented the end of a cycle of creation and the beginning of a new one and there are Mayan Calendars which go all the way into the 4000's.

Except...the mayans arent the only civilizations who believe that there will be a drastic turn of events in 2012:rolleyes:

Here are some more

Hopi Predict a 25yr period of purification followed by End of Fourth World and beginning of the Fifth.

Mayans Call it the 'end days' or the end of time as we know it.

Maoris Say that as the veils dissolve there will be a merging of the physical & spiritual worlds.

Zulu Believe that the whole world will be turned upside down.

Hindus Kali Yuga (end time of man). The Coming of Kalki & critical mass of Enlightened Ones.

Incas Call it the 'Age of Meeting Ourselves Again'.

Aztec Call this the Time of the Sixth Sun. A time of transformation. Creation of new race.

Dogon Say that the spaceship of the visitors, the Nommo, will return in the form of a blue star.

Pueblo Acknowledge it'll be the emergence into the Fifth World

Cherokee Their ancient calendar ends exactly at 2012 as does the
Mayan calendar.

Tibetan Kalachakra teachings are prophesies left by Buddha predicting Coming of the Golden Age.

Egypt According to the Great Pyramid (stone calendar), present time cycle ends in year 2012 AD

Some people get excited because it isnt the END of the world, just the beginning of a new one....doesnt that make you wonder how then, you are going to BE on the new one?

The bible doesnt say its a remodelled, restored earth, its a new one. New means the old is GONE.

actually, id like to amplify what others have already pointed out, that the mayan calendar does not in fact end. it rolls over to a new "Baktun", or period of 144,000 days. the current baktun (#13) will end on dec.21, 2012 and will mark the start of the new baktun (#14) as described here: Baktun - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Here's a link giving the current mayan date: Mayan Calendar

I'll try to give some indication of what the bible says in line with these civilizations predictions. My comments are in red.

Here are some more

Hopi Predict a 25yr period of purification followed by End of Fourth World and beginning of the Fifth.

God is an all consuming fire...fire purifies metals and burns up chaff.

Mayans Call it the 'end days' or the end of time as we know it.

Eternity is not linked to time. Many references in the bible regarding eternity.

Maoris Say that as the veils dissolve there will be a merging of the physical & spiritual worlds.

Not so sure about the merging of the physical. That which can corrupt cannot inherit that which is incorruptable.

Zulu Believe that the whole world will be turned upside down.

The bible predicts that the cosmic powers will be shaken. And we are part of the cosmos.

Hindus Kali Yuga (end time of man). The Coming of Kalki & critical mass of Enlightened Ones.

The son will come with the saints

Incas Call it the 'Age of Meeting Ourselves Again'.

You on this planet meets up with the you standing at the throne room of grace.

Aztec Call this the Time of the Sixth Sun. A time of transformation. Creation of new race.

God has always saved a remnant with which he starts anew.

Dogon Say that the spaceship of the visitors, the Nommo, will return in the form of a blue star.

HUH? HE HE....some believe that aliens will visit our planet before the end comes. I dont know...i think the aliens are already here. Alien to god.

Tibetan Kalachakra teachings are prophesies left by Buddha predicting Coming of the Golden Age.

Pure gold if rolled out really thin is transparent. That which has become invisible will become visible.

Perhaps the mayan calander does not end, but a new calendar/cycle will start, though this calender is not linked to time.

My concern isn't what B.O. is or isn't. I'm not even concerned with the date 2012. I know where my eternity will be spent.

I would like to know why you quote a Swedish author(maybe ?) speaking about something he may have little or no knowledge about? I was a sailor for 20+ years and we pray during stormy seas. The most avid atheists aboard ships can be heard saying, "God, I wish I felt better," as the the ship tosses on the waves.

Setting on a windless calm, with the sun bearing down on you, the smell and taste of salt can be so over powering, it can make you gag. You don't want to spend a whole day or days without wind. Tempers flare even between shipmates in a dead calm.

2 Timothy 1:12 ...for I know whom I have believed, and am persuaded that he is able to keep that which I have committed unto him against that day.

Did you just copy this off an atheist webpage? How well do you know the author you quoted, Gustaf Lindborg?

You could spend the rest of today finding out about this author. I plan to spend eternity finding out about mine.

I make jokes about the world ending in 2012; the truth is, it won't end until after 2060. :cool:

As for Obama, even if he was an antichrist it wouldn't matter. Our president is one - she's a Red, and not just because of her hair. :rolleyes:
