I did a random google search and pulled up this blog on the matter: BlueOregon: MSNBC: 100% Comcast's decision and Saltzman's ticked off.
This is rediculous they replace msnbc with a golf channel, that gets more viewers? My ***! Especailly in a Left-leaning election, viewers will all be over MSNBC! Stupid *** Comcast. What's next force CNN to have only Lou Dobbs and Glenn Beck, and kick out Anderson Cooper, and Wolf Blitzer?

Im not saying that has never happened, but some of the conspiracy theories I have seen are beginning to border on ridiculous. I agree with Kungfuzed that this is most likely just another way to make people pay them more money for the channels they want.

If you don't even look at the newspaper to find out about the channel you must be to lazy then or must not really care about the channel. My Comcast network still has MSNBC on the channel they've had it at for a while now. Whenever Comcast does change channels around on our cable box they send digital messages and tell us the new channels. They did this for MSNBC as well. Do you have Comcast? If you did you would know about the digital messages. In fact we just recieved one yesterday about a channel.

I have Comcast and I still have MSNBC and I live in a "red" state. It's been on the same channel now for a while. At least since 2005 or 2006.

It is and as I've said I'm a Comcast subscriber (my family is) and we still get MSNBC. It's on channel sixty. The last time I checked which was last night when I was scrolling through the channels. Whenever Comcast here changes channels they send digital messages through their cable box and lets us know. When the Discovery Home network changed to the Green network they told us.

Ah, we're in the same area! MSNBC was on 31 on for me, too. I didn't notice MSNBC got moved, but I did notice my CourtTV (no I won't call it truTV) got moved. I'm really bitter about that. I did notice that the channels that got moved to digital high 100s were channels not owned in some way by Comcast. Hmmmmm!
Now in the Pittsburgh and Boston areas (Pinky, this is probably why you haven't noticed a change) MSNBC was moved to digital and replaced by the Golf Channel. The Golf Channel is a subsidiary.
Some of the channels and their owners that got moved to digital...
Hallmark - Crown Media
ESPN Classic - Disney
TruTV - TimeWarner
This shouldn't really affect me as I have a digital package with Comcast... but it does. I only have one box on one TV that receives the digital channels. When I contacted Comcast to ask where the heck some of my favourite channels got moved I was informed about the change to digital and then thrown a sales pitch to buy more boxes for the other TVs in my house.
I don't think this is politics at work but just greed.
