Christians. Why do you respect a God that kills humans and does not denounce slavery?

The Bible often depicts scenes where God kills humans. The largest numbers was with His genocidal flood where all but 8 of millions are killed including children and babies.
We vilify humans like Hitler who use genocide against nations yet in the case of God using the same tactic, we honor Him that much more for doing the right thing. Rather a double standard.

Further reading of scripture shows that nowhere does God speak against slavery or the acquisition of many wives.
In fact we are told how to handle and chastise slaves and wives and unruly children. The best or worse way, depending on your views is here;


Deut21-18
If a man have a stubborn and rebellious son, which will not obey the voice of his father, or the voice of his mother, and that, when they have chastened him, will not hearken unto them: 19 Then shall his father and his mother lay hold on him, and bring him out unto the elders of his city, and unto the gate of his place; 20 And they shall say unto the elders of his city, This our son is stubborn and rebellious, he will not obey our voice; he is a glutton, and a drunkard. 21 And all the men of his city shall stone him with stones, that he die: so shalt thou put evil away from among you; and all Israel shall hear, and fear.

I can see worship of a loving God but the Bible shows a God that is less than loving and in fact it Shows a God that did not create perfect works;

Deuteronomy 32:4
He is the Rock, his work is perfect: for all his ways are judgment: a God of truth and without iniquity, just and right is he.

But also does not seem to do much of anything right.
He could not come out of Heaven without bringing Satan with Him and could not get Adam and Eve out of the garden in a way that He would approve of.

So Christians, why do you follow an incompetent killer of men who breaks His own law whenever He likes.
We would not follow a human law maker who broke his own laws. Why do you follow a God that does?

For the record, I do not believe that God has ever killed anyone but most Christians argue against me on that point.

You win now explain why you honor a killer.

I'm not a true christian, I'm more of an Agnostic-christian I guess, not too sure. It is of my opinion that people have their standards for life too high. People would rather keep someone alive on life support, then pull the plug to end suffering. If I found out 100 people had a contagious virus that would end in their death after a couple months, and there was not a cure, I would have them killed off if I had the power for the greater good of those around them.

I have two OPINIONATED answers to your question:

Sometimes people dieing is better for the greater good. Like right now, I'm pretty sure we are just about due for a big flood in the next couple years (12-21-12?) or something along those lines, people are just getting really messed up these days and lost sight of things.

It's not "God's" fault. God just got everything set up, and pressed the start button. He gave us the ability to reproduce, and gave us the ability to do as we please. He set up the pins so we can knock them down. Maybe he also set up the weather system on some kind of a random system. Kind of like the coding behind a program.

The question is, how many people have to die while attempting to find a cure for it? You kill 100 people, that are likely to die anyway while finding a cure, and possibly save the lives of 300 other people they might infect... or take the risk of keeping them alive while trying to find a cure, which ultimately could result in way more deaths. They still have not cured cancer, and that's been around for a while, what makes you think they would find a cure for a deadly virus like that after a couple months?

That's not my experience. I don't know anyone in real life who believes in the flood.

I argue against many who unfortunately think such a thing justified because God is the judge. I try to find words to dissuade them but often fail.
Their indoctrination and fundamentalism is too deep.
Sad.

Killing a few to find a cure foe many is OK if they are sick.
Killing many millions to save 8 is unethical by any measure. Give your head a shake.

God had many options that He could have used instead of looking like a genocidal maniac.
Breaking His own laws would kill all trust His followers would have.

The people had their free will. Who are we to question God's decisions? The children are in heaven. What happened to the parents, I don't know. The world had become a wretched place, God had tried repeatedly to reform them.

I completely agree. "God" works in mysterious ways though.

If we are made in His immage then all mysteries should be eventually understood.

It just takes time to dither things out. An open mind is paramount.
