What is your religion?

I neither espouse nor claim any religious adherence or beliefs of any kind.

I am of the opinion (like Thomas Edison) that "religion is bunk".

Tibetan Buddhism. There are four specific schools of learning/studying/practicing Tibetan Buddhism - Sakya, Nyingma, Kagyu, and Geluk. I practice Geluk, and it's most notable distinction is that His Holiness the Dalai Lama is considered it's temporal and spiritual leader.

There is more specific definition at this site: Buddhism - Foundation for the Preservation of the Mahayana Tradition - and it describes what we do much better than I ever could. :)

MysticSang'ha-I have been lucky enough to have heard His Holiness' lectures three times in person. Every one a great spiritual experience. I even spoke to him at one of those. Very humble man. :) He has visited here (Bloomington, Indiana University) 13 times in my lifetime. We even have a Tibetan center on campus. So if your ever in Bloomington, Indiana, be sure to stop by the Tibetan center.:)

Agnosticism is not a religion, but a viewpoint that regards both theistic and non-theistic issues. I far more interested in mythology than I with religion.....well, actually I see religions as myths.

So I'm agnostic.

Beats the h*** out of me.

I am, am not, and yet I am that which is all things and in all things. Yet, I am unimpressed with mystical detachment from life--maybe because I’ve witnessed firsthand things that few Americans get closer to than their TV. I’ve seen Americans complain about how their steaks are cooked while all they had to do was turn around to see people eke out lives from the stuff they (Americans) threw away. I’ve seen and been the victim of violence. I’ve been with loved ones so poor they literally sleep on dirt floors (mud floors when it's raining) and yet so full of life that coming home to my soft life in America was a real downer. I know what it is to be told you have cancer and I know what it is to be present at the birth of your first grandchild. Detachment from life as a way of life is, to me, unthinkable.

Just as denying dualism is itself a kind of dualism, attachment to detachment is attachment and preaching from the esoteric profundity of “not-knowing” is itself a kind of knowing. This is why, in my mind, the esoteric profundity of mysticism is the same sentimental fluff and pretentiousness as the “halleluiah and praise the Lord” mentality of evangelical Christians.

I assume I am one with God, of God and in God, but find myself having to deal with right here and right now. I aspire to be more than I am, but I know that the quickest and surest way for a tadpole to become a frog is to live faithfully every moment as a tadpole.

I love the ritual and symbolism of the Catholic mass, detest the emphasis the Mormon church puts on community and conformity, and spit on the Koran for no other reason than Muslims will despise me for doing so. I think political correctness is stupid and hypocritical and has seeped into our lives without our realizing it--just note the many non-Muslims “offended” by my willingness to spit on the Koran but defend putting a crucifix in a jar of urine as “art” or “free speech.” I despise the proud and self-righteous, too.

I’m a very proud, opinionated and presumptuous person. I accept that. I accept all that I am: all my faults and weaknesses as well as all my strengths. I am anger when I have anger and am compassion when I have compassion. I am the stupidity when I’m being stupid and the brilliance when I’m being brilliant.

It takes a lot of chutzpah for a conscious being to say unconscious matter is all there is, or if not all, the bottom line. If consciousness exists, it is innate in the nature of reality itself. It is a great blunder to humanize God (and that is exactly what non-believers do when they compare God to a pink unicorn), but even that is not nearly as stupid as to completely mechanize the First Cause. I have no patience with such stupidity. I see a lot of it and have no reason to respect it (apart from it being the politically correct thing to do).

Everywhere, every when, and every possibility are centered in me here and now. (Not at all a strange idea given the understanding of modern cosmology and physics.) My life’s adventure is God’s expansion into self-awareness and self-realization from a finite point of view. My struggles and sufferings are part of God’s escape from the awful experiential limitations of unqualified infinity. The answer to the questions “why me?” and “why suffering?” is “why not?” For, ultimately, it all belongs to none but God. We cannot hope to be perfect in the infinite sense, the way God is perfect, but in all that pertains the supernal and divine goal that God has put before us, we can be just as replete in our sphere of attainment as God is in his sphere of infinity and eternity.

Solipsism, on the other hand, is a strange New Age phenomenon. I am certainly the co-creator of my circumstances and perspective, but not, as some would have me believe, the creator of my reality or any other reality. All the stuff about being the creator of our own reality may feel empowering at first, but ultimately leads to failure, disappointment and feelings of guilt or inadequacy. You, me, and the weirdo next-door are all part of God’s creative adventure, but even in the collective, are not God. God is more, infinitely more.

You tell me. What religion is it? :angel2:

I suppose I am a mystic. I seek a greater understanding of "reality."

I glean meaning and purpose and inspiration from so many spiritual sources, from Christianity to Taoism to Chaos Magick to Gnosticism, et al.

Rebeccanism. The belief in my wife. To trust her above others that claim to know my best interests. Like Scott. Who called my wife evil. Just because he is Catholic, and my wife is Wiccan. Here is the fun part. my wife loves nature. Does not mock other religions that are different then hers. Loves everybody, no matter what they believe in... As what Christ taught...But wait.... Christan's in this forum have called her a "Skank" (Because she has tattoos)
I have studied the bible inside and out. Here is what I find so remarkable. The people in this forum that are more "Christlike" are either atheists or beliefs are that of non Christian thinking there are exceptions, such as Scuba Pete, and others..)
MidnightBlue, Paw (where ever you are) Micheal, Sunstone, Majikthise, Mister_T, S2a, just to name a few.., are what I call "True Christians", even thought most would not ever consider themselves to be as such...

No offense, my friend, but in the old days we called that "whipped" (if we were polite).

I don't have a name for it, but thanks for sharing your description. I might offer that in my view there is a State of Being beyond the commonly thought of mysticism that dissolves individuality in which Individuality is regained and action here & now is important. How could a person who is One with God not be one with all 'else' and not be so involved? My guess is that you have reached a State of Being in which you are your religion.:)
Best Wishes,

I felt the same way about 5 or 6 years ago. I didn't know what agnosticism mean before that time.

I knew about atheism and theism. I had a concept in regarding to the existence (or non-existence) of god or gods, but didn't realise there was even a name for the concept I had. So you can imagine my surprise when I discover this "agnosticism" or "agnostic".

Its only a Label
When one is at home he does not look for any paths/religion.
yes am one with all religions/paths/ways.
otherwise they are meaningless unless one is able to reach home by taking that path.
Home is where each one is but still looking here and there.
It is HERE-NOW.
