From what I remeember didn't the bible say that the shepards were attending to the sheep when Jesus was born?

That would be sometimes in the spring right?

I'm pretty sure shepards tend to their flocks year round. Perhaps you're thinking "lamb" when it says sheep.

Do you believe that Jesus was born on December 25th or that the church chose to celebrate Christ's birth day during the Yule celebration and Winter Solstice to appease Early Pagans who were going to burn logs and exchange gifts and bring trees into the house anyway?
The Capricorn in me would like to believe so but the skeptic in me says that it was sometime in the fall.

Astrologists say there was a very bright star the year Jesus was born, (the star of Bethlehem). According to their charts the star that the wise men followed happened in late Summer or early fall.

No, it is deathly frigid in Bethlehem & Jerusalem (whichever place he was born) by December 25, no one in their right mind would be tending sheep (plural of lamb) or any other animal.

essentially tricking the pagans into worshipping Christianity. Just one more unethical practice to add to the list of many.
How would it be tricking them? Or unethical?

While I've never met or heard of anyone named Jessus before, I don't think I could take it to the level of certainty that you have the no such person has been born :p

Why not, these other people state for certain he WAS born, I have the same rigbt to my opinion.

No I don't' think he was born then, but more importantly, it doesn't matter in the slightest imo. Even if I believed he was the son of God, who cares what day he was born on? You just pick a day to celebrate his birth and run with it.

And he may not have ever existed anyway, he does display remarkable similarities to other mythical heroes (Mithras, Dionysus, Oedipus, etc.)

It is obvious the Winter solstice has something to do with the reason the Church Fathers made their divine godman born on Dec. 25th. The date is the same for numerous proto-saviours, not least the Roman Mithras.
However, it might be that rather than deliberate manipulation, the choice was the result of genuine belief.

Jessus wasn't born period, the story is a myth. Many mythical gods had birthdays around the winter solstice.
Is this the only point you can make? People already understand your point. Your constant repetition of it adds nothing futher to any debate when you enter with your one horse concept.

Celebrating His birthday, whenever it is, has no significance to the scriptural following of the commandments or the tenets that are offered in the Bible.

It's still a great time of year though.

No one knows when Christ was born, and it doesn't really matter when.

In common with early Church practice, they used the date of a Pagan Festival, Easter is no different. Most scholars think the man Jesus, must of been born in April.

I don't want to get into an English battle with you, but "sheep" is not the plural of lamb. Is "dog" the plural of puppy?

lamb, hoggett or mutton are culinary names for the meat of a domestic sheep. The meat of a sheep a year old or younger is generally known as lamb, whereas the meat of an older sheep is either hoggett or mutton depending on its age and characteristics

Please accept my apologies, I stand corrected LOL

Sorry, tending sheep is a year round task. Sheep are stupid, untended there would be no herd at all in the spring.
