I hate self honesty. It is in my opinion one of the most hideous things in existence. It strips away every bit of mystique, every ornate embellishment and it leaves only reality. It does not matter how much pride I have, when I look into the mirror of truth, I always find myself staring into the eyes of nothing more than a mortal being. Every bit of pomp is burned away, incinerated within the eternally burning light of Reason.
There is no mystique remaining and any shred of belief in...
Do you think or believe the universe is eternal or not?
Do you think the initial expansion (big bang) is the beginning of the universe? Or do you think the universe predate this point Iin time?
Which or what physical cosmological model do you accept if it is not the big bang model?
Please explain your position...
I find a lot of difficulty accepting every aspect of even my own faith. Religion generally has this absurdity factor, where all reason is heaved out the window. While I have had many experiences to prove the reality of certain things, I look at some of my current beliefs and just want to scream, perhaps for an hour or more. It is absurd and I hate it! Two creators, for example. My deity being known by contrasting names through history and from pantheon to pantheon, separated by thousands of...
I have always viewed the right hand path and the left hand path in terms of the pentacle and pentagram.
The pentacle has the point facing up:
1) Man becoming one with God. (Merging with God)
2) "Spiritual" having greater importance over material. (Material is often seen as an obstacle)
3) God over self.
The pentagram has the point facing down:
1) Man becoming (or already is) a "god".
2) Importance of material over "spiritual".
3) Self over God
To apply this to my own faith:
1) I value the...
Is this guy a complete fraud?
He is trying to redefine your god outside the text you hold sacred, yet he claims he is a theist.
Classical theism is the conception of God that has prevailed historically within Judaism, Christianity, Islam, and Western philosophical theism generally. Its religious roots are biblical, and its philosophical roots are to be found in the Neoplatonic and Aristotelian traditions....
What if there are two creators? One which is omnimax, without beginning or end and the other which had a beginning and experiences omni attributes while seated in a "throne of power"? Also, this throne can be taken by any supernal mighty enough to take it. The being seated there is given the ability through the throne to create out of "nothing", that is, through their consciousness into reality. To separate and make physical from the non physical. Also, the one in the throne need not be...
There is good in all people and all religions and it would be wonderful if we all appreciated that and celebrated the beauty in all religions and all humanity mixed together in a spirit of friendship. I love the serenity of Buddhist temples and the love of Christians. I have just about every Holy Book in my Kindle and I love them all. The Quran, the Dhammapada , the Bhagavad-Gita , the Bible and the cultures and food of all these traditions are so wonderful. My life is so rich because I...
Which do you suppose would have a greater influence on your life and behavior:
(1) A firm, conscious belief in god that, nevertheless was not based on any personal experience, or
(2) An actual experience of god that, however, you somehow manage to consciously forget ever happened?
