Sorry, had to post this, after having just had a rant in another thread...
To everyone who has a religious belief that the hold to be "the Truth," or "the only way to salvation," I want to ask this one simple question:
What the hell do you think you know that everybody else doesn't? How can you be so blindly stupid as to imagine for yourself a God that could make his truth known to you -- but was utterly powerless to make it known to everybody else?
Human society has long declared high rates of secular phobia the irrational dislike, distrust, fear, or hatred of nonreligious people within America.
Atheist parents have been denied custody rights in the wake of a divorce. It's illegal for an atheist to hold public office in seven states. Charity donations are rejected when offered by secularist organizations. There is no question that atheists, agnostics, secularists, and others who eschew religion are widely disliked.
Lets say the Exodus didn't happen, or Genesis is entirely made up. Not a single instance in these books happened. Do we toss out the whole thing? can there still be spiritual truth in a book full of myths?
Or maybe say it turns out the Jesus of the bible never existed, is there still worth in following his teachings?
I mean could you still be a Christian if most of this didn't happen, or a jew.
I am always amazed how many times archaeology confirms what was written in the Tannakh.
Once again, another stone is turned and another discovery is found:
"The palace was built for the Assyrian King Sennarcherib, expanded by his son Esarhaddon, and renovated by his grandson King Ashurbanipal, according to the Telegraph, which notes that the palace was partly destroyed during the sack of Nineveh in 612 B.C. Sennacherib’s invasion of the ancient kingdom of Judah is extensively documented...
How many percentage of persons test and verify all the experiments of science?
What to speak of repeating them not even all the experiments in their specific field of interest they would do it or consider doing them.
I don't think many people do it, and all goes on faith in scientific method and then science and many a time blind-faith in scientific method and or science. While sceintific method having relevance pertinence to all aspects of life is also doubtful and not certain.
This is a repost from a thread of mine in the Hindu DIR thread. It has taken me a long time to accept that God exists, as I am an ex-atheist and still have strong atheistic tendencies. I have looked at all the main arguments for why God exists cosmological, design and ontological, but it is this argument that convinces me the most.
Argument: The laws of cause and effect require a maintainer that enforces it.
If a law exists, it does not necessarily mean that everybody will follow the law....
I think aborted Fetuses must be great Saints with a very high standing in Heaven. They were slain while completely innocent and sinless. I invoke them for help and write letters and Novenas to them. Anyone else here ever done something like that or am I special
I lost my virginity to a girl who talked to her aborted fetuses and had names for them. I think they are soldiers for Christ!
OK this needs to be cleared up.
Probability is the proportion of possible outcomes measured by the repeat exercise of a random event. A random event in this context is random sampling or random assignment.
Arguments about the probability of God's existence are nonsensical. Remember that probability is a measurement, and it is not the same thing as possibility.
So if we say that God has a 50% chance of existing then that make no sense at all. If God exist then God does not have a 50%...
So the idea here was to have a little prayer experiment to determine whether or not the feeling I have gotten of peace after praying is just a placebo. This is not a definitive test but it is certainly a beginning. Right off the bat it should be stated that we won’t be praying for any specific item or event just guidance and peace.
So we’re going to try several different types of prayer. Any prayers you think I should try go ahead nad suggest it. I’ll be trying to get through as many as...
I hear many people say that you go to hell if you don't believe in Christianity. That includes other religions out there who would make the same claim. I cannot make myself believe no matter what and I have researched all I could into everything I could possibly read into, and I just have to remain undecided. My undecided mindset is the result of a truly honest open mind and open heart. Will I go to hell since I could not believe? Furthermore, do I need to dedicate and serve my life to a...
