As you see it, what are top three or four primary reasons someone would reject your religion?
Note: Please state your religion -- if it's not accurately stated in your profile. Thanks!
Assuming you feel a need to reconcile the fact and theory of evolution with your religion, how do you do so?
Please note: If you do not feel a need to reconcile the fact and theory of evolution with your religion because you believe that one, the other, or both are wrong, that's fine, but this is simply not the thread for discussing whether or not those two things are wrong. So please, start your own thread if you wish to discuss what's wrong with either the fact or theory of evolution.
I'm Jewish brought up religious and nothing was good enough. There were very high expectations to live more religious then the next person or at least as much as the rest of the community.
So one example would be not to watch t.v. which to this day, it doesn't feel right. Because I'm unable to work (which is a long story yet connected to my religious upbringing) I watch a lot of tv, so its difficult to feel my life is worthwhile, because we were taught to study when we have time, even...
[6:51] Say: “I do not say to you: ‘I possess the treasures of Allah,’ nor do I know the unseen; nor do I say to you: ‘I am an angel.’ I follow only that which is revealed to me.” Say: ‘Can a blind man and one who sees be alike?’ Will you not then reflect?
Open for the Believers and the Atheists to comment, please.
Personally I never fully agreed with evolution, but then the creation myths don't really sit well with me either. I believe there is however a divine source but I don't think God in the bible made the Earth. I do however believe the gods and goddesses interacted with humans and made us what we are but I don't think any of them are omnipotent, like Yahweh, or Jesus or anything like that. I believe they are powerful but not all powerful. Why would an all powerful person require worshipers when...
A methodist pastor is sleeping outdoors in the freezing Michigan winter to protest discrimination against LGBT people by the church, ThinkProgress reports.
Rev. Michael Tupper, who is a pastor at Parchment United Methodist Church, was punished after he officiated his daughter’s same-sex wedding last year. He did so despite the fact that pastors are...
For those who do not believe that the Universe was a product of intelligent design, what qualities of the Universe would you expect to be different if it was intelligently-designed? What would have to be different about the Universe so that intelligent design would be considered the most likely explanation for these qualities? Take note that I am not talking about absolute proof, just whatever evidence would be sufficiently strong to lend weight to intelligent design.
Please take note that...
I’ve often found here and elsewhere that the big bang theory is somehow evidence of a creator. To be fair, many scientists (including Hoyle, who coined the term “big bang” derisively) objected to the idea that the universe ever “began” for precisely this reason (or at least something similar). The origins of the infamous cosmological constant began with Einstein’s attempt to make the universe static rather than having originated.
So let’s grant, for the sake of argument, that the universe...
