I'm not sure if I can post a poll on here but who here believes that the universe originated from nothing? As some of the major scientific theories from the 20th century claimed or was there an originator of some sort? Doesn't have to be God necessarily in your opinion. Who believes the universe has no beginning? I'm just curious as to what you guys believe with regard to this topic and what the basis of your belief would be?
I've got to say, at first I thought this incident wasn't related to international terrorism, but apparently it is looking more and more like that is the case. Yet, Obama came out today saying that the US is safe from ISIS. Does anyone else see this as a bit counter-intuitive?
So there is a myth being propagated that science and religion are incompatible and must always be at odds. I for one disagree. To me science is holy. My god is among other things a god of knowledge and understanding. I and he do not see science as a threat but as a method of increasing knowledge of the universe as well as finding ways to manipulate the universe for our benefit. Science is not evil, or satanic, or sinful. Knowledge is, (they say) power, and the quest for knowledge will never...
"Muhammad." The nearly ubiquitous name evokes different thoughts in the minds of people from all walks of life. For Muslims, he is a teacher, an exemplary prophet and messenger of Allah to whom the perfect, final word of divine truth was revealed. He was also a merchant and a charismatic leader. But was Muhammad only the founder of a new religion and a charismatic leader?
To me, the answer is no. He was much, much more than that. Being a visionary was perhaps the main factor that catapulted...
Suppose for the sake of discussion that after many, many stimulating cups of coffee you stumbled upon a brilliant, purely logical proof that deity must necessarily exist. Would this purely logical proof alone be sufficient to demonstrate the existence of deity? Or would it need to be confirmed by empirical evidence? Why or why not?
Psalms 14:1 Compare Job 30:8
People have claimed and are claiming that Psalm 14:1 is about atheists. But what if it isn't?
It has occurred to be, a former Jehovah's Witness, that according to the Governing Body of Jehovah's Witness there is no Jehovah for me if I do not go back to them. Whenever anyone leaves the Christain Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses it is said by the JWs that we have left Jehovah.
Might Psalm 14:1 be about the belief that God is only for some people, and not...
Heaven, for lack of a better universal word, is whatever you believe the a positive afterlife would be.
i.e. Nichiren Buddhists, we believe in rebirth. Perfect wisdom of causality. I also believe spirits exist after death. So, heaven would be my being an ancestor to help family. Heaven is on earth.
How do you view heaven if or when you reach it?
If you are meeting someone in heaven, how would you describe your future experience if you can imagine it?
What would it be like to achieve full...
^-^ Hello everyone!
So I havn't been on forums like this for 8 years and RF was the first and only one I joined recently so far.
I must say this "Like" culture is crazy. I never seen it like this before. Not sure if it's just the RF community or most everyone in forums these days hit that "Like" button most of the time. Don't get me wrong, I'm not complaining, I just hope you guys really do like what I have to say before hitting that "Like" button is all.
I'm learning to hit that "Like"...
