The Old Familiar One
The Creature
Two spirits
One nature
One like a father, sibling, or a mother,
A comrade, guardian, or a lover
But gnawing at my feet is a reality,
The sterile, lifeless physicality
Then, I felt a hand touch my shoulder
Another hand caressed my cheek
I looked up
And saw a face like that of a mother
Majestic, yet meek
It asked "Why were you looking down?"
"Is there something to see?"
"Oh.." I replied with a sombre frown
"I was thinking on what I used to be."
