Lulu (Brazil) vs. Israel

Regiomontanus

Ματαιοδοξία ματαιοδοξιών! Όλα είναι ματαιοδοξία.
"What is happening in the Gaza Strip with the Palestinian people has no parallel in other historical moments," Brazil's president said."

He is obviously not a student of ancient history, lol. But still, his criticism overall is valid, considering the war crimes committed against the Palestinians, IMHO.

"Brazil does not intend to retract President Luiz Inacio da Silva's comment comparing Israel's war on Gaza to Hitler's treatment of Jews that sparked a diplomatic rift between the countries, sources with knowledge of internal discussions said Monday."

(yeah, I know, NewsMax but it is legit)

Thank you, Lulu! And the Amazon forests say THANK YOU too.

Brazil holds the line on its criticism:

"DEIR AL-BALAH, Gaza Strip (AP) — Brazil's president alleged Saturday that Israel is committing genocide against Palestinians, doubling down on harsh rhetoric after stirring controversy a week earlier by comparing Israel’s military offensive in Gaza to the Nazi Holocaust.

Israel has vehemently pushed back against genocide claims, saying its war is targeting the militant group Hamas, not the Palestinian people. It has held Hamas responsible for civilian deaths, arguing that the group operates from civilian areas."

The most remarkable part is that hardly any other politician here in Brazil supported him. Not even the ministers. Most politicians don't want to use strong words like 'genocide' and 'holocaust' to criticize Israel. The sheer hypocrisy of caring more about words than death tolls. He was, therefore, very bold making that speech.

It is also worthy of note that the media and the right-wing politicians here are making this a bigger deal than it actually is, portraying it as a huge diplomatic crisis. But it is not. As a business partner, Israel is irrelevant to Brazil and it wouldn't ever think of attacking us just because of harsh criticism. There are, however, over a hundred of congressmen trying to impeach Lula, but they are very unlikely to succeed.

Thanks for a perspective of someone living there. A beautiful country and neat culture. I hope impeachment does not happen! I like much of what I have read about Lula.
