Philosophy is connected to logic. What I would like to do is challenge all the members in the Philosophy forum with a tough logic puzzle. I have not been able to solve it.
This mystery puzzle is connected to the impeachment inquiry of President Biden. The alleged charge is influence peddling with his son Hunter. The logic of the defense does not add up in terms of the Democrat Party's claim of the President's total lack of involvement, in his son's business.
The challenge is, can anyone provide a logically sound scenario, based on the facts, where Hunter Biden would still be able to run all those international business ventures, with his father oblivious and 100% detached from his business? Instead of the bottom line opinions of the defense, the goal is a logic stream to that end to help Joe Biden.
For example, one of Hunter's early business ventures was with a Ukrainian Oligarch who controlled energy in Ukraine; big dog, at the time. Oligarchs in Ukraine, at that time, was more like Mafia Dons than Mark Zuckerberg and Elon Musk. Ukraine was well known for corruption; black free market. Mafia Dons, at the top had to be very shrewd in business, paranoid, willing to bend the law, and people savvy, since they often deal with unsavory characters. They have minions to do their research and even other minions to instill fear to maintain their standing among the illegally ambitious and corruptible; semi legit mafia.
How did Hunter get close to this Oligarch, since the Oligarch had to know everything about Hunter to factor out him being a competitor spy. Hunter had no practical skills in energy, and at the time he had a drug problem, which would have diminished, whatever skills, anyone had. If anything, someone with a drug habit is more like something a mafia don could use for leverage; play Hunter for what he could offer.
If you have been following the impeachment inquiry, the business had even more powerful business connections, like to China and Russia. Both countries have spies, everywhere, and with someone like Hunter connected to a top US official, he would be under pre-surveillance and they would known more about him they he knows about himself. How does he get such good jobs with all that high pay and bonuses, with limited skills, yet still sustain a long term business model? Even if he was a good con artist, the word on the street would catch up with him, and although still protected by his status, businesses would avoid him.
The object of the game is to use the available data; above and more, and come up with a logical scenario that would allow Hunter Biden to sustain this long term international business model, without any leverage, that this father could offer. Do not look at him as Hunter Biden, but Hunter Smith.
