I'm kinda proud of myself today. I gave my first-ever presentation, and the preparations for it were kinda dramatic; I was supposed to be one of four people on the same team, but two of them slacked off and didn't present. I was forced to study their slides and present them along with my own. Also, it was my first time talking in front of tens of people, so I was worried that I might mess up.

Since I have a noticeably nasal voice, I was expecting that some of the audience might make fun of me or laugh (due to previous negative experiences with people making fun of it). I was right. I remained totally composed and finished the slides despite the distractions, though, and I got a perfect score.

I've come out with a relatively obvious takeaway today: a lot of jerks are loud. Although there weren't that many people laughing, their laughter was loud and very noticeable. It is the wise observer's job not to let the jerks drown out the reasonable folks.

Anyway, I'm particularly happy because I remained calm and finished my work properly on my first-ever presentation. Woot! :D

What? Me worry?
Kudos. I've always told my kids, "If you find yourself naked in front of the world, give them a good show".

Do you think these 'jerks' were being jerks because of you personally or your material?

Everyone I asked after the presentation said that the material was informative and original. I don't think it had to do with the material; I think it mainly had to do with what I mentioned in the OP.

As a Hindu type I see karma biting them in the butt. But whether you are a Hindu or a materialist, ignore and forget, is the wise path.
