Motivational talk (Chaos Magic)

I thought this was a well thought out video on the six pillars of Chaos Magic. Whilexl, of course, its about Chaos Magic, each pillar are pretty generalized. So, her advice can be applied to most non dogmatic seekers of varying religious views.

I wanted an overall talk from varying faiths; but, Chaos Magic isnt a religion, so here it is:

30 min video, by the way

Context, not content, guys! Here is a cap. Other than that, I never heard of Chaos magic.

6 Principles of Choas Magic

Basically, gives advice about not making religion or practice a dogma or ritualistic. Its makes it more personal when one creates their own rituals and prayers. Dogma could also make someone have ego because ot can make you feel you are correct and others are wrong.

History of witchcraft: Dont know if everything is fact.

One should perfect ones practice. Maybe writing what you have done and keep a record and knowing which is best for you.

Another thing is not to be stuck on one idea. Basically inspirational.

Ghonsis in Choas magic is being an altered state of consciousness. I dont know if this is true, regardless altered consciousness makes sense.

Take out her age, looks, and way she talks. Context not content. Whats right? Whats wrong? Whst do you think about it?zz

TBH, most of the Internet heads make the subject too damn complicated...

I'd suggest that you read:

http://www.amazon.com/Advanced-Magick-Beginners-Alan-Chapman/dp/1904658415

This is generally considered the newbie Chaos magick book and should answer most of your starting questions... Once you jam through that one maybe PM for more suggestions or go off on your own. I'd start there because you get a taste of the basics enough to know if you want to be involved. :)

Nope, read it. Really, there is just no point to attempt to explain further until you understand the language. :)

Its not competely foriegn to me. I cant focus on reading outside books. Need to focus on universitiy studies. If you have web sites that is faster if explaining it would be too much.

You need to integrate occultism into university and the reverse as well, otherwise you're just dabbling.

If you want to learn how to paint ask a painter... if you want to learn about Chaos magic ask a Chaote....

If you want to learn about scientific theories ask a scientist.... etc...

Chaos magicians aren't interested in theories, but some of them study quantum mechanics because it fits their models of reality. I have no idea what "outside books" is in reference to but I've already given you the best introductory source. There is a lot of different takes on the subject, but what science has to do with it... or university studies do... is beyond me... lol

You seem to be kicking the tires with a lot of different systems and not really committed to studying any one of them. May I suggest that you filter your selections and a bit isolate a few subjects to master. You're not going to learn anything of note from just a preliminary study of a thousand meaningless things. Pick the systems that make the most sense to you and then study them for a year. Ignore everything else. I know it's hard to reel in the virtual ADHD caused by google and forums, but I suggest that you start attempting to do so. :)

If you can't be bothered to read some tiny 200 pg book that completely explains the subject on a basic level then why should I bother to prepare a detailed explanation? It seems to me you can't be bothered to put the tiniest effort into obtaining some basic understanding yourself.

According to what I learned, I dont practice choas magic. Just curious about it only.

Ok, let me explain this to you.

Chaos Magick is a modern form of magic that wishes to throw of dogmatism and seperate relgion and magic.

By utilizing beilief as a tool Chaos Magick draws its power.

Choas Magick often makes use of Sigils which are a very simple psychology trick that are useful in magical practices.

If you want to understand why it works I can try to explain the metaphysics.

If you want some practical instruction I can help with that as well.

Thank you! I dont care for belief-only based magic. I honestly dont understand how magic can be separated from the culture that defines it. Even if we made up our culture (doesnt have to start generational), how we see things, upbringing, and what we are influenced by etc, I would highly assume, influences how we do magic.

Chaos Magick is a modern attempt to find out what pure magic is.

Pure magic as in magic that is uninfluenced by culture.
