RF Topics you'd never participate in

Oh, don't get me wrong... there are times I'm not interested in discussing certain topics. It's more a function of the whimsy of mood, of boredom and interest, than some sort of "moral nerves" as you call it. I think one of the keys to not getting upset is to quit expecting the universe to conform to our expectations of it (including value judgments which relate to ethics). If we stop and think about it, it's pretty darned ridiculous to have this expectation in the first place, but it seems humans can't help but to do this. And although I am not the sort of fool who is naive to the power of words, on the whole, I am not really concerned about what people say. I am much more concerned about what they actually do. Discussions that happen on forums like this are just not relevant enough in the grand scheme of things for me to get upset over.

I have no idea if that answers your question. :coldsweat:
lol yes and no. Yes..cause its your reply not mine. And no. Because its your reply is not mine. ;)

Okay. Take the death penalty example. Going into a thread and talking about the death penalty is like me being in the same room as a correctional officer and doctor discussing the pros and cons of living a good life while the prisioner is in front of me on the bed, waiting for his injection. (Not to offend you by using your words). I can be a pluralist and talk about different aspects of the death penalty, and even do so without getting upset (in person or online), but that doesn't change the fact that I still feel like Im talking about the death of someone in front of their excution.

Homosexuality is a little less bothersome because it seems to hover over the christian side for some reason. However, that's like humanity telling their peers they are "the other" based on gender. If I thought "okay, I'm walking freely, I can care less of what other people say," that doesn't change the fact that we are not treated equally no matter whether its discussed online or put forth in a court for marriage. It takes the conversation to a whole new level than John says this and Jane says that. So, I don't go into conversations like that (or try not to) because I am reminded that its not just a conversation to me.

I live the conversation daily.

I always figure it's human nature to have some bothersome feelings about things that don't line up with what we believe regardless if they don't continuously affect us. That's the key. Not to stop the feeling. Just make sure the ball doesn't roll.

People are telling me they don't have balls. (No pun). So do they gather moss or not?

I have a much bigger Won't Participate list than Will Participate list...I always end up stepping in on those topics now and then regardless, just don't stay long.

Most of it comes down to politics and other stuff not directly or primarily related to "religion"

I've heard of it, but don't remember it.
But if I were to start playing games on a computer, I'd take up go again.
You stack pieces called terinomes, either a block, a long straight piece, an L and backwards L, and an S and backwards S, and half of a + shape. You can vertically build, horizontally build, you'll most likely do both, and the game ends as soon as pieces touches the top of the play area. Just make sure you play an older version (the newer ones are easier with the ability to hold a piece and you can keep rotating and even move the pieces even though they touched the bottom). And don't play it if you have anything to do during the day, or next morning, as it's very easy to loose track of time and play for several hours without realizing it.
