Should there be a Jediism section?

If this forum included every ideology that claimed to be a religion we would need six fora. Also, I think it would be kind of dead.

I don't think we'd need that much. There's many religions that have lower demographics but are still talked about. It's the 7th largest religion in the UK so that's saying something, not including people outside of the UK.

It's weird ufo religions get their own section but not Jediism which actually has more members than one things. I always wanted to ask what their views on marriage were, the force, if they believe in/and use telekinesis like many pagans use magic and use hypnosis, kind of like the Jedi mind trick in the movies.

Ah ha, see I told you, Jediism is legit! :)

Well it is a religion for certain I never really doubted it I just thought there were more pagans overall than Jedi, but I feel they deserve their own section. If UFO religions can, I don't see why the 7th largest religion in the UK can't.

Those kooky Brits, who knew they were such big Star Wars fans over there?

Some love it a lot and some I've heard and never even watched the movies but still practice the religion. Actually there were some Jedi on this forum but I wonder if there are here now that are still active.

As a Jedi it would be appreciated to have a forum to discuss the concept; since it is an official religion, seems a shame to miss out on such an interesting belief system. :innocent:

So here's the thing about Jedis. My guess is Jedis aren't really sitting around trying to move objects with their minds, insisting that the Force is actually real, and trying to build their own personal light saber.

My guess is they focus on Yoda's positive messages like "Try not. Do, or do not, there is no try" and "you must unlearn what you have learned" and "Fear leads to anger, anger leads to hate, hate leads to suffering"

Wouldn't it be nice if all religions were as self-aware?

Some religions are self aware; yet the bit that gets me is the limited understanding of the dark side and force, that is inherent in all, yet often gets blamed on some external being, and not recognizing that it is a choice within all of us. ;)

Oh that's cool I didn't know you were a Jedi. :) I often wondered what some of their views were on certain things in politics, culture ect. I hear Jedi have actually tried to perform telekinesis as well.

Well if we look at the film, it is clear that the Galactic Senate is a great metaphor for how corruption infiltrates any political movement.....Anyways we should wait until we get our new forum section; happy to discuss all the philosophy, etc. :)

Didn't we all try it when we were kids? I swear that mop moved just a little when I was 9!

We did. xD There are some videos online of them doing stuff like that as well as Aerokinesis. :) I guess they seem to be into it, much like pagans who are into magic, like me. :)

That's true. I hear they like democracy but usually are cautious of politicians. It's interesting because in Star Wars A New Hope, Darth Vader talks to the Imperial Officers and one of them kind of dismisses Vader, saying he's just following an ancient religion. I never knew it'd become a real religion but I'm glad it did because Jediism offers lots of common sense. :)

How do you get them to make a new section? Can we take a vote?

We might be able to give it a try...sure we will get more Jedi than Amish or Jains.

I believe so. There were a few Jains but I haven't seen active ones. Although even if there were no Jedi it'd still be interesting to have the section as one can still talk about it's customs and people from other faiths and incorporate it into their beliefs. I vote for a Jediism section. :)

Many if not almost all believe there is a Force that binds the universe. One can call it energy, chi, ect. They call it the Force. There are videos of Jedi trying telekinesis although it's not a required or common practice and up to the individual. Most don't build lightsabers but there are some that practice some kind of martial art, including fencing.

They don't literally believe Yoda or Obi wan are real and don't follow the SW mythology literally. They seem to look at the Jedi as role models. Some aren't even Star Wars fans.
