No, you mis-overstand I, George.
That's the second time you have used the word 'overstand'. Is that just a mistake or is it intentional? I'm curious; are you from Jamaica?

“Fear” in the context described does not mean “to be afraid”, rather it means “love, raspect, admiration, devotion to Almighty Jah”, seen?
So why not replace the word 'Fear' with 'Love", 'Respect', 'Admiration' or 'Devotion'?

Why should he have to conform his zeitgeist to yours.
He doesn't have to. But I can question and challenge him so we all can learn. As he said in the OP: 'Ask me anything or provide any comments about the livity of Rastaman

Okay, just because I am bored, I will bite. Provide empirical, testable, falsifiable evidence that there is anything to what you believe.

If I'm being straightforward with you, Mr. Platt, there is no evidence (at least, scientifically) for what I believe as a Rasta. Probably because of the fact that the content of my faith is NOT a matter of scientific verification and observations of the physical world, but rather a matter of history.

No, I am from the United States. It is intentionally done by and among Rastas in the dialect we created called ‘Iyaric’. We borrow words from Jamaican Patois or replace parts of English words with other words or the letter 'I'. A few examples are ‘upful’ for ‘helpful’, instead of con- words such as ‘consider’ or ‘contact’, I and I say ‘Isider’ and ‘Itact’. The latter is for spiritual reasons.

If you've ever read The Holy Ible (‘Bible’), then you would notice that the word ‘fear’ and the phrase ‘fear of the LORD’ is used there several different times.

Well, history does contains facts. But nonetheless I appreciate your straightforwardness. It is sometimes hard to find here.

But do you know standard English too? If you do, then you should use the common language when communicating with non-rastafarians I would think. You should not expect that people understand 'lyaric' on RF.

Yes, I know. But I also criticize emphasis on the phrase 'fear of the Lord' by Christians in modern times.

Sorry DJ, I'm not trying to give you a hard time but maybe reflect on issues that many people might see.

Understood. Oh, and you shouldn't use the term ‘rastafarian(s)’, because Rastas do go for -ians or -isms.

Brother, it's alright. Again, I understand.

Peace from I to all of I and I in the Name of Jah, the Ruler of all creation; His Son, Jesus Christ, Lion of Judah; His Holy Spirit; and His Servant, His Imperial Majesty, Haile Selassie I, Ras Tafari! Ask me anything or provide any comments about the livity of Rastaman...Bless I, Jah Rastafari!

Glad to see you here. Rastafarianism is woefully unrepresented and poorly understood on the forums and in the general world. What sort of misconceptions of Rastafarianism do you encounter and what's the best way to respond to them?

Well, dust1n, one of the most common is that all Rastaman smoke herb and wear their hear in locks, and that doing either one of those things make one a Rasta. FALSE. Neither one makes you truly Rasta, but the love of Jah and your neighbour, plus the reverence for Emperor Haile Selassie I as well as Emperess Menen, most importantly, makes one a Rastaman, seen? Oh yeah, I don't like -ism being attached to the name of my faith, no “Rastafarianism”.

Thanks, I guess besides the weed and dreads thing, which I should have seen coming I guess, what would a common misconception be?

Also, so instead of "Rastafarianism," would it be more appropriate to just call it "Rasta" or something else? EDIT: Or Rastafari, seems to be prevalent on the internet.
