Aliens versus universe simulator : which will happen first?

Which will happen first?
Will an alien detection happen first, or will humanity create a universe simulator where humanoid life comes into existence first?

My vote goes for aliens, especially if we aren't only considering intelligent awesome aliens, but bacteria and slime puddles and such.

I was going to put I can't guess but then some thoughts occurred to me. I feel like it might be possible that this reality is a universe simulation already. We are the
aliens. Now what I think might have taken place is the following. An alien civilization reached extreme evolution or intelligent development in the distant past in a
distant location. These aliens may not have even been humanoid. In there development they found certain activities to be near impossible. For instance space
travel. Instead of doing space travel like we on planet earth try now they had to evolutionarily change. Its just like what we are on the verge of now. We are on the
verge of making humans into computers or machines partly. In my thought I just think like aliens probably adapted and made themselves micro size as far as space
ships. They also likely computerized parts of their existence. I have read that advanced space civilizations would be harnessing solar systems or even entire galaxies for their energy needs because they would deplete places like an earth so very rapidly. Anyhow in their( the aliens) past they may have inadvertently/accidentally brought on the collapse of their existence so they adapted again. They could make artificial universes to live within or change their form so as to survive upon less
energy. Being so extremely advanced they might make simulations with apparently tons of energy in the program but from only the limited energy supplies in their real actual universe. Who knows??

Humanoid life could very well have come into existence first. My only thought has to do with Time. If humans succeed in their development without killing off their own
species whether on purpose or by accident in the future they will surely evolve new/different characteristics. Humans 300 years from 2015 say, will be evolutionarily very different looking than the humans walking around now. They might computerize themselves to a high degree or some other development. It could be the distant
offsprings of the humans around now did end up making a Universe simulation. This would leave me pondering the whole Time Travel issue...

I don't think we're a simulation but also don't think we are real in the sense that we would prefer. We are what things called 'Humans' would be if they existed, which they don't, so we aren't.
