Holy Communion

For those of you who observe Communion, do you ever bless it and give it to yourself at home or some other place? What's your theology on this issue?

No. We (I used to) always receive communion at Church. If someone is in the hospital, they can receive communion there. I live in a senior residential apartment complex; they usually have Mass and communion is given there too.

Religious wise, I would rather receive communion in a Church if I had the choice. Common sense and by scripture, communion should be given anywhere by anyone who are brothers and sisters of Christ. There shouldn't be a restriction on who gives out the Body of Christ. Since I respect the Church in that respect, I guess I understand it in a historical, culture, and religious perspective. When it comes to scripture, communion is with all Christians. There shouldn't be more than one type of communion.

I am assuming you mean Catholic communion. If not, that's okay. No one communion is better than the other and it should be given by anyone who is in the body and blood of Jesus Christ.

That's my stance.

I don't mean Catholic verses any other form of Communion although some gnostics use their own rite. Some do bless it alone or with others.

Hm. I guess I'll keep this short since I am not a gnostic. From a pagan view, yes we bless our own communion if we have that type of ritual. I assume gnostics are kind of mystics? I wouldn't be surprised if they do.

No, I don't do it at home. For me it is simply an outward symbol for the inward communion with Christ.
