General rule of thumb with anything Microsoft-software related, but especially OSes; wait about 2-3 years before upgrading. Unless it's 8, in which **** that noise.

Thanks for the heads up. I went through grief in the Windows 7 to 8 to 8.x upgrades. No doubt this will be the same. The only thing that seems to work without grief is, not to upgrade but buy an entirely new computer or laptop with the OEM preinstalled.

I'm allowing my 8.1 laptop to be upgraded to 10 whenever it happens because it's 8.1. My Windows 7 desktop, no way not at least for months.

And when the 8.1 upgrade happens, I'm going to want to run it as manually as I can to avoid having defaults reset such as browser.

It's definitely an improvement over 8. You should have a little icon offering the upgrade, already, down on the taskbar.

I'm just getting my laptop functioning again with 7. I was going to try and go with 10, but I'm am very much in the mindset of it ain't broken, don't fix it (except, Windows is always broken in some way, but I just don't want to have to deal with doing all this stuff over again).
