Seeking a community.

I've walked along many different paths, trying to figure out what I do and do not believe. At 46, I'm pretty comfortable with that. What I am looking for now is a community with whom I can celebrate my beliefs and I am not foolish enough to believe that it will be a community of one. So, what I need help with is finding that community. For that, I have found my way here.

OK, a little bit about what I believe.......
1. There is 1 benevolent and parental deity who can be recognized as both male and female in one existence at all times.

2, God (for lack of a better name) does not posses any emotion other than love. God is not jealous, vengeful, angry, etc. God loves, loves unconditionally and permanently, leaving no room for any other emotion.

3. There is no Hell. God, being loving and parental would never suffer God's children to eternal punishment.

4. The first law of thermal dynamics states that energy can neither be created nor destroyed, only changed. A soul is the divine energy that animates and binds all living things. Therefore, a soul can neither be created nor destroyed, only changed. Given that, the "energy" that is the soul is finite and must be recycled upon death, meaning a sort of reincarnation.

5. Human consciousness is unique to the living human. It is not perceived by the soul and therefore, the "memories" of past human incarnations are not carried with the soul from incarnation to incarnation.

6. Between incarnations, the soul perceives some sort of "conscious" state, but humans have no way of knowing what that consciousness is.

7. There are angles, who are both good and evil and they do interact with man.

8. There was a man, named Jesus who was a teacher, a leader and a prophet. HOWEVER Jesus was a man, the same way any human is a man, and his soul was no different than any other soul. He was not "God incarnate" or any more the "son of God" than any other human is the son or daughter of God.

9. Jesus was martyred for his beliefs, that created a new school of theology that, after many iterations, is still believed, celebrated and practiced by many today.

10. The 5 Abrahamic books, the Pentateuch, are the basis of my theological beliefs, but there is room for more than the Nicaen cannon.

11. NO religious writing is the absolute or literal "word of God," but are the divinely inspired writings of man, in an attempt to understand and teach theological belief and practice, through different literary methods in order to convey the underlying message.

12. The only difference between a prayer and a spell is the use of physical focuses in spells. Prayers are focused intent, just as spells are focused intent.

13. God uses angels, "spirits," and the living souls of anyone or anything to speak to us.

14. There is no need of an intercessor or a formula to speak directly to God. We simply speak as though we were speaking to a parent or other loved one.

15. Miracles happen every single day on any number of levels.

16. Prayers are heard and answered at the right (by God's estimation) time.

17. We are all in this together and we are supposed to look out for and help one another.

18. The good that we put into the world is returned to us, just as evenly as the bad that we put into the world.

19. Human love is an equal measure of God's love and is unconditional. Therefore, if I love "unless" or "only if," I am not truly loving.

20. No one is perfect. Mistakes, sometimes gross mistakes, will happen. I need to love unconditionally and forgive the mistakes of myself and others, just as I would want my mistakes to be forgiven by others. That does NOT, however, mean I have to give one who hurt me the chance to do it again, only that I will not wish any negativity or retribution toward them.

I think that about sums up what I believe and how I try to live. I've haven't found the community that believes all of those things too. So, I'm still looking.

Peace be upon you.
I've walked along many different paths, trying to figure out what I do and do not believe. ......What I am looking for now is a community with whom I can celebrate my beliefs.....
Peace be on you.
Please allow to say few words from my understandings.
How you reached to your already-decided beliefs?

OK, a little bit about what I believe.......
1. There is 1 benevolent and parental deity who can be recognized as both male and female in one existence at all times.
You seems to be close to believe in God Who is :
Al-Rabb [Lord, Raises step by step, Provider, Norish to all sorts of creation]
Al-Rahman [Gracious, Merciful and Kind to all living]
Al-Raheem [Repeats Mercy, shows special mercy for sincere believers]
Maalik e Youm al-deen [Master of Day of judgement, Master of Day of Glory of Faith]

God is above genders and is unique.
Why Allah is used as He..It is Arabic grammer thing, not gender:

.., God (for lack of a better name) does not posses any emotion other than love. God is not jealous, vengeful, angry, etc. God loves, loves unconditionally and permanently, leaving no room for any other emotion.
God's attributes and human emotions:

3. There is no Hell. God, being loving and parental would never suffer God's children to eternal punishment.
Just because of love, good parents sometimes teach those children who do not listen to them and insist to destroy themselves (children) in somewhat bitter ways. The purpose is to correct them.
1) According to Holy Quran, Hell is like hospital or correctional temporary facility or place where medicine will be given for treatment.

Medicine makers are kind
but medicines are not always sweet.

[ch101:v10] "Hell will be his (nursing) mother."
[Holy Quran: alislam.org/quran]
The words are "fa ummohu haviah"

The weak people will be treated and will be out of hell to climb the ladder of progress.

2) "" Holy Prophet (pbuh) of Islam announced:"A time will come when no one will be left in Hell; winds will blow and the windows and doors of Hell will make a rattling noise on account of the blowing winds." [Tafsir-ul-Maalam-ul-Tanzil under verse Hud:107]""

Therefore, a soul can neither be created nor destroyed, only changed. Given that, the "energy" that is the soul is finite and must be recycled upon death, meaning a sort of reincarnation.
By definition, a perfect God, The Master, Makes laws and can create any soul when likes so.
After transition from this physical world, new progress in unlimited spiritual dimension begins. No coming back.

5. Human consciousness is unique to the living human. It is not perceived by the soul and therefore, the "memories" of past human incarnations are not carried with the soul from incarnation to incarnation.
Human are product of physical body and soul. Consciousness works at both levels.

7. There are angles, who are both good and evil and they do interact with man.
Angels are good agencies of God for the working of universe.
https://www.alislam.org/r.php?q=Angels

"Functions of the Holy Spirit and Satan One of the questions raised is: If the Holy Spirit is appointed to restrain a person from evil conduct, then why does he commit sin and why is he involved in disbelief and disobedience and vice? The answer is that God Almighty has for the purpose of testing man appointed two spiritual callers; one caller to good whose name is the Holy Spirit and the other caller to vice, whose name is Iblis and Satan. These two callers only call to good or evil but do not exercise any compulsion as is indicated in the verse: 49 This means that God reveals the wrong and the right…. The means of revealing the wrong is Satan, who makes evil suggestions, and the means of revealing the right is the Holy Spirit, who puts pure thoughts in the heart. As God Almighty is the Cause of causes He has attributed both these types of revelation to Himself because all this system is instituted by Him. Otherwise, what power would Satan have to make evil suggestions to anyone’s heart and what power would the Holy Spirit have to guide anyone along the paths of righteousness?"

Agree...

9. Jesus was martyred for his beliefs, that created a new school of theology that, after many iterations, is still believed, celebrated and practiced by many today.
Jesus (on whom be peace) survived the cross, and migrated to find lost tribes, as he foretold....He went to Kashmir through Iran, Afghanistan and lived a successful life of 120 years. His tomb is in Khanyar (Sri Nagar):

Please make more room.

13. God uses angels, "spirits," and the living souls of anyone or anything to speak to us.
If God can speak so, then above #11 does not stand, God can speak a whole Book for preservation. [God did]

15. Miracles happen every single day on any number of levels.
Agree

16. Prayers are heard and answered at the right (by God's estimation) time.
Agree.

17. We are all in this together and we are supposed to look out for and help one another.
Quran
[ch1:v2] All praise belongs to Allah, Lord of all the worlds,

Very vast concept of Lord.

18. The good that we put into the world is returned to us, just as evenly as the bad that we put into the world.
Some times it does not come. For complete manifestation, there is Day of Judgement.

19. Human love is an equal measure of God's love and is unconditional. Therefore, if I love "unless" or "only if," I am not truly loving.
God is perfect and comprehensive and so is God's love.
God's love sometimes give medicines too.

....... That does NOT, however, mean I have to give one who hurt me the chance to do it again, ....
Then it is not 'unconditional love'.

I think that about sums up what I believe and how I try to live. I've haven't found the community that believes all of those things too. So, I'm still looking.
Very good wishes. Welcome to any nearby 'Ahmadiyya-Muslim Community' worldwide.

@cookiesmom I have a very expansive view of community. Anyone who's heart is attracted to the Light and wishes to move ever closer to that Light is a member of my community. I find it fun that people have different beliefs and different practices which make them different "pieces" in the "quilt" of community. As Rumi said "There are hundreds of ways to kneel and kiss the ground." From what you wrote, I find you to be a member of my community.

I'm sure you can have those beliefs and attend a Unitarian Universalist church.
I attended a Unitarian Universalist church for a about a year. Perhaps it was that particular church, but the pastor seemed so concerned in being so all inclusive that there seemed to be no Spirit to anything. Everything seemed so.......bleached out." I was not happy there. Unfortunately, the only other UU church in my area would be more than an hour drive away and that is a little too far to travel.

"How did I reach my already decided beliefs?"

LOL I think it started when I was asked not to return to Sunday School class, at about age 8 or 9, for wanting to know why, if God is our father, he would want any of us, his children, to suffer FOREVER for doing wrong. I went on to explain that I thought if the love a parent had for a child was only part of the love that God had for all of humanity, and no parent wants their child to always be in punishment, then God would feel even more strongly the same way, so how could a person's soul be sent to Hell forever? That was Methodist Sunday school.

A couple of years later, in Catholic School, during religion class, I asked the same question and was reassigned to study hall.

In High school, someone came and sat with my friends and me during lunch one day and asked us how we felt about the fact that we were going to Hell because we were not what he considered to be "born again." I told him I didn't believe I was going to go to Hell because, according to Jesus, salvation was a gift from God, through the sacrifice of Jesus,to pay for all of the sins of mankind. It was a gift that was freely given. One does not need to make himself "worthy" of a gift already given. All one needs is to be grateful. Besides, it was not for any man to judge or decide the fate of any other man's soul, unless he wanted that same action to be applied to him. That person never spoke to me again.

My grandfather used to spend Sunday afternoons with me and my sister in the garden behind my grandparents' garage. We are American Indian, and he used to tell us the creation myths of our people. They all have a lesson about living in harmony with all other humans as well as the earth and all the living things on it, Those lessons stuck with me.

When my grandfather died, my senior year of high school, I took his death very hard and got very mad at God for making him die. I got very mad at everyone in the Methodist and Lutheran church because they could not help me make sense of it. So I decided I didn't want to be part of the Christian community any more.

I admit now that the death of my grandfather was probably the catalyst to my rebellion. I joined a Pagan group in college. Some of what I encountered there had similar messages to the Old Ways my grandfather taught me, but not enough of a similarity. Eventually, I felt as though I had "outgrown" what they could offer me.

From there, I did a lot of self study and reading for many years. I had 3 children and being a mother only cemented the things I had believes and the questions I had asked so long ago, when I was a child.

I married, briefly (not my first marriage), a man whose father was a priest in the Episcopal church. I was used to the way that Christianity worked, so I could navigate that well enough, but being Christian didn't really fit. It fit even less when, 4 years ago, I had a stroke and my husband decided taking care of me was "more than he signed on for." His father didn't even try to counsel him to honor the vows he took at our wedding and actually condoned his divorcing me. I was done with Christianity and the hypocrisy I believed I saw there.

That was when I turned to the Unitarian Universalist church. But there felt as though there was no spirit there, in an attempt to make it accepting of everything, there was really nothing to offer. I'm not saying that was the case, only that it was how I felt.

The things I believe are the things that my heart and the little voice inside my head, the one that only whispers. never yells and tells me when something isn't a good idea tell me. I know I can trust those because they are my soul talking to me and my soul was given to me by God. re the things that, by living them, have gotten me through some difficult times and helped me to find hope even situations that seemed hopeless.

That is how I have come to the beliefs I hold.

I Am Another You :)
I've been to a UU church and I understand your position completely. It sounds like the Gaudiya Vaishnavism tradition shares some (but not all) of your beliefs (loving God, no hell, eternal soul).
