What Is Your IQ?

The fact remains that some people with high IQ points don't even use them. And yes, there are times when the lower IQs have to work harder at certain things (as was already pointed out, the IQ only points out a certain kind of intelligence. Working harder is good at building character and people tend to appreciate more what they had to work harder to achieve. If a genius gets an A on a test, people say "no big deal, you always get As" if a lower IQ gets an A, people will be more impressed: That's not actually fair but that's the way it is.
On a serious note, our brains generally have about the same amount of electrical energy and overall capability (with a few caveats). If you have a high IQ it means you will probably have lower mental abilities in other areas. HR reps put knowledge like that to good use. So a high IQ is not necessarily good or bad, but it means your brain is more specialized in a particular area and equally that it is less capable in some other areas.

The 2 people I have known with High IQs were both seemed to have a great need to put everything in a spread sheet

That's what people with average IQs tell themselves.

That's what I think too. IQ test is about a few particular areas of deduction, reasoning, logic, etc, and some for spatial thinking and such, but a person who can imagine a whole painting in their head and then do it, or a whole symphony playing in their head and write it down, they're just having their "smartness" in some other area. In a form that's not so easy to test. Or a low functioning autistic kid who can't answer normal question but is a savant in some area.

I read something about some guy who suddenly became a math genius a while back.

... Searching... found it.

He was mugged. Then IQ increased. College Dropout Jason Padgett Becomes Accidental Mathematical Genius After Brutal Mugging

Cool! I myself once fell on my head.

No, I deduced the correct answer.....or rather, one of them.

(I'd considered looking into coinage because I know you have the half pence.
But that would'a required work. Plus, my answer was more interesting.)
Indeed....
My answer, given to an outraged father whose son had failed the exam, who challenged me to answer this, was 24, which does have some logic to it as well.

Ergo..... what a bloody stupid question to put in a kid's exam, having cherry picked an oblique choice of 'correct'.
This exam was no doubt written by somebody with a high IQ! :D

That's when an IQ test is stupid. :)
Yes. Good. Correct.
A stupidly concocted test, intended to separate children into fast and slow education paths.
So much for the IQs of education chiefs in the UK in 1965.

In fact, most of the amazingly stupid situations and decisions taken in my country come from the minds of our top IQs.

Leading a sheltered life, ya wouldn't ken that many people aren't as cannie or schooled as they'd have you believe.

I think that people who have been tested and rated at very high IQs can sometimes have very little common sense.
I don't think that the IQ rating, on it's own, is worth very much.

Whatever its usage or 'meaning', IQ is certainly not the only measure of a man....er, person.
(That's how I console meself....compensating qualities must be there somewhere.)
