Oh. Look. A survival-crafting-rogue-like-zombie-game. It's been a whole five minutes since we've seen one of those!

Pretty damn fun. It's kind of like a cross between Day Z and Minecraft. My brother and I might get a server up and running soon if anyone might be interested.

7 Days to Die on Steam

I've been considering it, but was unsure about the time investment. I spend a decent amount of time gaming, but it's irregular. So one day, it's 4 hours then I go 3 days with 0 hours. Would that work against me?

Twilight Hue

Twilight, not bright nor dark, good nor bad.
It's definitely fun. I've been watching let's play on it. If it ever comes out for consoles..... =0}

There reason there is a lot of them is because it's an awesome concept. Another reason there is a lot of them is most of them are failed attempts.

7 Days is by far the most solid and promising of the genre that I've played yet, with actual depth, challenges, and goals.

You would be fine. :) I work and have a family so I can't play for lengthy routines, either. The thing about a multiplayer server is that not everyone has to be on at exactly the same time because the "world" is persistent.

Oh...more like, does it require consistent time to make progess. Sure i can drop in drop out, but some games effectively punish you for not logging in each day, etc.

Not really. It's not like an mmorpg where you try to maintain the same level range with your friends in order to play with them or anything like that.
