Are we allowed to openly discuss the change in RF?

I joined RF years back...

Recently what has changed was not only the RF software platform...
many other things have changed...

I am really not sure if we are allowed to openly discuss these changes?!!

Start talk'n, & see how far "The Man" will let us go.
They're a cliquishly sensitive bunch, but they give us some leeway.

I suspect your fear is rooted in the idea that the Mods act alone on the issues.

They do not.
They act as a committee, making moderation decisions as a group, not as individuals.

Its a fair system for the most part, yet imo there should still be designated moderation in specific dirs such as Buddhists moderating Buddhist boards, Christians moderating Christianity boards, Muslims moderating Islamic dirs, Hindus with Hindus, and so forth. Having say a Satanist moderating Christian dirs for instance may result in some conflict involving nuances that may be results of misconstrued and/or unintentional interpretation by someone not entirely familiar or involved with that particular religion or practice.

Still, imo this is one of the better forums out there regardless, as far as fairness goes.

Sounds reasonable, but I personally prefer things as they are right now. There is much to be said about the merits of learning to meddle respectfully in threads that one does not follow.

As someone who has consistently skirted the rules for years here, sometimes knowingly sometimes unknowingly, I personally don't see any difference in the moderation's agenda or tone. The moderators here are just members who volunteer their time to maintain some sense of structure and overall fairness and civility. Honestly, it seems kind of silly to me that some people paying a few bucks a month would have any impact on their judgments or decisions.

Now, there has been an overall change in tone and dynamics since the change, but this seems to be a natural side-effect of implementing significant site=wide changes to a community which has evolved and developed over a decade.
