Voted No, but when I'm dreaming I don't notice. I lucid dream only very rarely.

No, not even a possibility. I learned to control my dreams when I was young and let me tell you, a lot of this mysticism surrounding dreams disappears when you have complete control of every aspect of your dream. When I was in control, even their thoughts and emotions weren't a mystery to me as I was aware of and controlled what they felt and thought as if I was a director and they were acting out my script. And that's actually kind of a bad analogy because actors implies a consciousness acting out another consciousness, they were really more like puppets.

Interesting.

Question:
Do you believe you have free will?

I'm not asking if you yourself are conscious during your dreams (that's a given). I'm asking whether you believe the characters who inhabit your dreams are conscious.

Frankly, I avoid using the word "conscious" at all, unless I am contrasting it in terms being awake (conscious) vs asleep (or unconscious .

No, in general I see them as just the machinations of my subconscious. However, I do believe there are some higher dream experiences in which conscious entities come through.

Please elaborate.
I believe that incorporeal entities can communicate with people best in the sleeping state (or the stage between sleep and awake) if they have a will to communicate something. This would not be the normal dream.

That's the hypnagogic state - a state that's pregnant with paranormal activity. But I referring to our so-called normal dreaming state. It's possible we are accessing parallel selves in parallel worlds in that state.

Well in my dreams people behave like conscious entities - otherwise they would just be like statues I guess.

No, they are not conscious.

I only ever lucid dream. But I still don't know how to answer. On one hand, they are part of my consciousness and I know they are characters, akin to imaginary friends. Otoh, I endow them with consciousness as a characteristic. While I know they are characters throughout my dream, I get absorbed in it as one might a video game. So , I guess the answer to the op, for me, is yes and no.

The characters are as conscious as mine is while i am dreaming of it. But i got no prove that its something beyond my own imagination. Besides that, my own wish would overlap with their conscious, eitherway.
