Are there any schools of gnostic thought both ancient and modern that had a positive view of the universe and matter? I personally never could relate to a negative view of matter.

I was told that gnostics know God does not exist while agnostics dont know. I happen to fall Im the former; but, Im sure the words have changed meaning throughout time.

A lot of websites are bias leaning on the christian view. Here is what I can find.

Well although Hermeticism is not a Gnostic school of thought it could be considered a more positive view of the universe and matter. Hermeticism is pretty much basically Gnosticism without the idea that the Demiurge created the material world.
