Looking for Setians for discussions

Xeper!

Looking to meet and have discussions on the books in the reading list, psychology, XEPer, Reyn til Runa, etc... Presently, the only Setain I have any form of contact with is the Magister Templi and I'm reading his suggesting books. Just looking for other who will enhance my Becoming and perhaps I can return the favor.
Ad-Thanks-vance and Xeper!

Akingu,

Once you get a feel for the books the Magister suggested (and you are interested in learning more) you could always apply to the Temple of Set directly. Should you be Recognized to the First Degree you could then discuss the reading list with many Setians. While these public forums are a useful tool, in-depth discussion of Setian concepts is best approached through different avenues.

I was a member in the late 80s-90s and have considered re-applying but would rather be Recognized and asked to re-join. For the last 20 years, the teachings of the Temple have burned into my mind and spirit and I know that this is where I belonged; to have that family of like-mined individuals. It was a great loss to have to leave.
What I would like is just some one-on-one conversations with fellow Setians for possible rituals, insight, sharing experiences and well, just someone who knows Set. It seems that all the internet LHP forums are packed with the healy-feelys and not an ounce of intellect in the entire lot.
If you or anyone else is interested, my email is [email protected] and I would welcome all inquiries, conversations, recommendations and so on.
Again, THANK YOU for the very kind reply!

Ave Akingu.

Greetings in the Black Flame! I was also an Initiate of the ToS back in 1990-93 and again in 2005-08. Both times I had to leave the Temple for personal reasons, lol I wasn't kicked out. Over the years I have been a member of various other occult groups like "Church of Lucifer" and "First Church of Satan" but none of them could even begin to compare to the ToS, its fountain of knowledge and the intellects and Magicians I encountered and worked with therein. :smileycat: I have been and shall always be Setian, I'm just not the organizational type at this particular time in my life. The Essence of Set has been infused within my being, and such a gift can never be recalled.

May you for ever Xeper and Remanifest.

Dear Akingu,

You wrote:

As you were a former member you know that it would be highly unlikely that someone would ask you to "re-join". You presumably left on good terms. You would have to make the effort to re-establish your membership, should that be your Need.

Care LKeane and all,

That, Sir, is the game plan! HA! There are many things I've forgotten and desperately need to re-work into my daily life. As it stands, I'm just reading the books suggested by the Magister Templi. Right now, I'm in the middle of re-reading "The Crack In the Cosmic Egg". I found it a difficult read at first which is why I'm re-reading it but I'd also like to discuss how it affects me and my attempt at Xeper and Remanifestation.
Would anyone here be willing to talk about it either here or off-line? Do I need to put this in a different sub section for book discussions? Always open to suggestions adn I thank you all for your very kind replies!

Thanks!

Xeper!

I would also suggest a good reading of P.D. Ouspensky's "The Psychology of Man's Possible Evolution" to begin with Akingu.

Thank you! I have that book and am actually comparing it and "Flow" to "CITCE" as I wanted to see if 'flow' moments are the same as a Eureka! moment. In "Crack..." it mentions how the passion of the desire allows one to make it happen and the same with flow moments.
It's been so long and I'm feeling like I'm learning all over again but now, being a bit older, it's looking at things with more....jaded...lenses, I suppose. Is there a way to overcome cynicism? I was almost Recognized at one point but I've lost that edge; that ....inspiration, that motivation i want to say. I don't get the same results that I once did and I don't know why. It must be my mental state.
Has anyone ever compared the Dianetics theories with the "Cracks..." ideas that involve regression of the brains thinking? In Dianetics there are 'engrams' that are responsible for ones inhibitions, quirks, etc... I remember that from reading it 30 years ago. Wondering if it's the same thing.
Thanks you for your replies and suggestions!

Maybe that's sort of normal when you get older. When we're young, most of life's parcels still are closed, and we may be excited to open them. Many of them, however, turn out to be empty boxes. That can earn some bitterness. But the root cause was having too high expectations upon life to begin with. If you learn to value what you have, that will give you some support.

Be clear, however, that you will not "find" meaning and purpose anywhere. That's because you are not able to do it. If you were, then you would be a faithful believer in some established value system, like conventional religions. But you aren't.

Experienced Setians, whether ToS members or not, may show you possible ways, or may counsel you, or may inspire you. But I guess, not even the High Priest of the ToS can (or would want!) to rob you of your task under the guise of help.

You are facing emptiness because you have all freedom to fill it. You face empty pages because they are longing for your pen. You face an empty canvas because it desires your brush. You face silence because it desires your music!

Your task as Setian is, in fact, to actively create, not to passively discover!

Care Daelach,

XEPER!

what an insightful way to start my day! Thanks! I understand exactly what you mean. I've always been of the thought that no one is put on this Earth to make me happy. Not their job but it IS mine! only I can make myself happy or guide myself into the Path of the LH. Other people just assist in my selfish Path to Recognition and Initiation.
I want you all to know that I am NOT asking for a guided tour nor a free pass or however you'd like to call it. At this point, I am merely looking for friends, new reading materials and hopefully, if I've proven myself to be of use in a conversation and Setian discussion, you'll just point me in the right direction, offer a suggestion or a resource and I can find it out on my own.
Right now, the reading list offered by you all has been the most helpful. Again, many of the books I already have and I've enjoyed re-reading them. I'm starting all over again and it's working because every day I repeat my daily Invocation to set (thanks again Adrameleck), keep my mind focused on MY progress, MY thought processes, MY attitude and even on how I am re-writing certain Rituals that now seem outdated and somewhat childish.
Of course, ultimate goal IS re-admittance into the Temple, but only if and when I'm ready. Seems like I have a very good start and I'm grateful that you are helping me out. Mind if I steal the quote "Your task as Setian is, in fact, to actively create, not to passively discover!"? THAT is so true! One cannot Become by waiting for it to happen. One MUST actively SEEK knowledge and experience things for themselves. That is how One creates their Subjective Universe with real ingenium.
Thanks again Brother!

I've always been of the thought that no one is put on this Earth to make me happy. Not their job but it IS mine!

Well, happiness isn't the primary point when working with Set (IMO) since there is no promised paradise, deliverance or such. Quite the other way round, it's the blue pill that would provide happiness. On the other hand, I regard the Xtian paradise thing as a kind of spiritual prostitution anyway. I don't need such happiness prospects from Set because that isn't my motive. It's about familiar resemblance, in a way, and such a bond has no need for reward. It just is.

only I can make myself happy

You see.. the very fact that you can post here proves that you also belong to the privileged 20% of this world. Now material welfare doesn't necessarily translate into happiness, but the point is, if you don't need 90% of your time just for ensuring your survival, then you have various options. The void that you might feel is precisely this free room.

I want you all to know that I am NOT asking for a guided tour nor a free pass or however you'd like to call it.

Even if you were - you still would be the one to do it. You can lead a horse to water, but you can't make it drink, so to say. :)

At this point, I am merely looking for friends, new reading materials and hopefully, if I've proven myself to be of use in a conversation and Setian discussion

Just keep up that enthusiastic spirit.

offer a suggestion or a resource and I can find it out on my own.

Well.. my all-time favourite is "Oswald Spengler - The Decline of the West". It's hard to describe, but it will offer you a perspective upon culture, history, centuries passed and yet to come. And you will come to understand just how much you're a child of your time. Don't worry if you find it hard to read, that isn't the fault of the translators. I've read it in the original, which is my native language, and more than 50 pages per day were just impossible. The title is a bit of marketing of its time, and actually, it should have been "The Completion of the West".

Of course, ultimate goal IS re-admittance into the Temple, but only if and when I'm ready.

Of course.. (; However, at least that's my take as an outsider, it shouldn't be a goal, rather a step - since becoming shouldn't end with admittance, it should continue.. hopefully.

Mind if I steal the quote "Your task as Setian is, in fact, to actively create, not to passively discover!"?

No, I don't mind - I've shared that thought exactly for you to pick it up, and give it life.

all the best, Daelach
