Am I missing something Outhouse?? You are here on a Religious Forum commenting on a religious question from the OP??
Yet you say you are an Atheist??

My belief has nothing to do with my passion for these text, and the valuable lessons and morals they contain.

Im in search of the truth.

My lack of belief only offers the "possibility" that my work here will not be influenced by theistic bias that often perverts the truth.

Ok I understand. The Professor only knows more than his students while they are being taught. Also there are some students that are smarter than their Professor.
Also we are not talking about for example the study of science! We may find the text book (bible) has some errors in translation. Some of it need to be taken literally, some not so much. Some need to be taken in context with other parts in order to make sense. My view is a big part of understanding the scriptures comes from God himself. Also many people have pre conceived ideas/doctrine before they even start their study/research.

The bible itself warns us against believing in "teachings" from men!!! So we need to be careful about that. The whole world is controlled by Satan and we need to understand that he is very powerful and intelligent. His purpose is to mislead us and he will use any way/means that he can.

No.

Your question is fallacious.

Its possible that any student may possess a higher intellect. But hat is not an indication of knowledge.

Sorry it may not work the way you think it does.

My view is a big part of understanding the scriptures comes from God himself

For all purposes, we could say that is the same as being completely uneducated on the topic.

Example

I can prove no god has taught you anything of value sir.

Can you explain the parable of the mustard seed without looking it up? from the top of you head, what does it mean????????????????????

Unsubstantiated rhetoric sir

So we should all remain as dumb as dirt and refuse mans education? who the hell will operate on you? Who will drill your teeth?

Your priest or pastor or father had to be taught by man, so your fallacy factually does not fly sir.

Ty again?

The whole world is controlled by Satan and we need to understand that he is very powerful and intelligent.

Unsubstantiated rhetoric sir

Please be careful in what you say, your making good theist look bad. Your providing examples of fanaticism and fundamentalism.

Not all Christians think like you do. Try and remember your view does not apply to all.

many Christians embrace mans teachings that factually give us a better understanding of these ancient text.

Sample Chapter for Levine, A., Allison, D., Jr., Crossan, J.D., eds.: The Historical Jesus in Context.

We cannot always determine which came first: a historical event or a literary creation. In some cases, Jesus may have been influenced by the scriptures of Judaism (e.g., the miracle-working prophets such as Elijah and Elisha, the suffering servant described by the prophet Isaiah, the apocalyptic “son of man” mentioned by Daniel as well as 1 Enoch), as well as by Jewish accounts of martyrs, teachers, prophets, sages, and visionaries; yet it is equally possible that his followers, themselves steeped in these accounts, conformed their understanding of Jesus according to these narrative models. In other cases, those who told stories about him may have drawn from the rich traditions of the Greek and Roman worlds, from Homer to Aesop to Apollonius of Tyana and Apuleius of Madauros. In teaching and debating, Jesus would have used forms familiar to his audiences, such as parables and appeals to legal tradition or practice. Further, his audiences would have drawn upon this same repertoire in order to understand him.

I have not found any of those! I am quite happy with it's accuracy... Written by men but inspired by God...

If you don't accept the bible as God's Word then I really have nothing more to say to you... Then clearly we will be talking around in circles, a complete waste of time...

Nor anyone else in this debate section.

You should stay in the same faith sections, where you don't have to substantiate your claims.

Yet you cannot explain this parable below. So your god has taught you nothing at all?

Which is funny.

Because universities can teach anyone of any faith, things you will never know.

Who is really blind here???????????????? The educated or the ignorant?

Outhouse,
You have no idea who on this forum has an education, or to what level. I'd bet all you have is a GED from high school, and it ends there. Many have gone to college, and still have a very low IQ. Give yourself a break...the more you post, the more you it shows your lack of brain power. Stop doing this to yourself.
