A personal song from Maynard with incredible construction from the band. As a departure from the majority of Tool songs which leave open a vast interpretation of their music this was such a personal song with a very specific meaning and so well done.

The song. Such a comment on respect for one's parents while at the same time reaching out for independence. That state in which we reach out to learn for ourselves while still relying upon what our parents taught us.

This has been my favorite song for so many years especially while I take care of my parents in their later years and they keep pushing me out to find that someone.

Sitting on the beach at Jekyll Island around midnight listening to this song. You could not tell where the ocean ended and the sky began. People walking along the shore were barely visible. Shimmering images walking against the moonlight. Such a peaceful moment to coalesce. A time to reflect on what was lost.

Derided today but Metallica, with Cliff Burton, brought a new sound to heavy metal. This instrumental with Cliff's driving bass line I think defines Metallica up until "And Justice....". They brought something more than simple thrash to the heavy metal industry. Clear riffs with a controlled drive towards the development of the song.

And of course, considering my favorite song writers and composers, is....

.

I really like Karajan over Bernstein and pretty much everyone else.

I could post so much more.

Such as Patty Griffin.......

Nobody's Crying by Patty Griffin - YouTube

A song of loss.

Or the King!

ELVIS - Bridge Over Troubled Water (NEW mix! Great sound!) - YouTube

A version that even Paul Simon exlaimed better than his and Garfunkel's rendition.

But for someone new.......

My Oh My / Boll Weevil - Punch Brothers - 2/7/2015 - YouTube

I remember Nickel Creek but didn't really appreciate their music until I heard Chris Thile's new band. I just love the command of the instruments in these songs.

God I love music.

Oh hell.....

How could I forget this.....

Best guitarist I've ever heard. It was a toss up between this and a performance of guitar boogie.
