Hi Mystic...
I tend to like to know very simple things about people...so...
1) what is your favorite meal?
2) what are your top 5 favorite books?
3) if you could teach any course in a university setting, what would it be?
Boxers or briefs?
Dude! I just read (or should I say misread) your bio. I thought your last line said that you would "...whip up on the community property..." Imagine my chagrin. BTW my oldest son was born almost the same day as you. Trust me, the best is yet to come.
2) Top 5 favorite books? . . . .
. . . - Women Who Run with the Wolves
Have you red the sequel? Women Who Swing Through the Trees With Talking Monkeys?
Really? Because you're in it.
What's your opinion on Paternity pay and it's potential to help reinforce families which don't abide to the old-fashioned gender roles (Man working, Woman raising children etc)?
Do you think it can be used to help encourage people to stray away from Gender Roles and create/preserve a more egalitarian family unit - as well as to reduce stigmatization of Women in the workplace who want children?
All for it.
Yes yes and yes.
On the other hand how do you feel about women being bare-foot, pregnant, and in the kitchen--if that makes them happy?
Do you have a favourite (fictional or real) society which most-closely matches/matched your views on egalitarianism - sort of like a society that inspires you somewhat? If it's their choice and not out of coercion or intimidation? Totally for it.
And for the record, I was barefoot, pregnant, and in the kitchen for years and was very happy when I was. I still enjoy walking around the house barefoot and put laundry up on the clothesline barefoot and make meals in the kitchen barefoot. It's because I hate shoes (dancer-psychology).
I do argue against the stance that this is how women are supposed to be. How we are supposed to be is as much men are - free to live our lives as fully as we intend to.
