Argentinean presidential election... an anarchist wins! (?)

Anything passes for anarchism or libertarianism these days. All anarcho-capitalism means anymore is "we want it all and then others to work for us, no rules(laws or regulations) for us (capitalists) and more rules(laws or regulations) for the working classes".

The odds of him succeeding are about as good as of pigs flying.

Because the congress won't aid him or because his ideas are utterly flawed? If the latter, this is going to be a massive victory for left-wing parties all across latin american (to say the least) in the next decade or so. The Right has been using Venezuela and Cuba as punching bags for so long to gain voters... Having a very right-wing president fail so hard is going to be a huge political talking point.

Quite. Probably "and" too.

The extreme right is impervious to facts, so I don't know that it will make much of a difference.

He's an ultra-right-wing populist, and as we've seen so often in the past, and even though they at first seem to be a gift from God, usually it turns out that they act as fascists do act. IOW, we've seen this picture before.

To any Americans reading this, have a Happy Thanksgiving!

With all due respect...are you equating him to Mussolini?
Mussolini was against liberalism.
Mussolini tripled the ministries.
Mussolini tripled the public expenditure.
Mussolini was for the State present 24/7 in the commoners' lives.

Milei wants No Government.

It's difficult to fully assess where a newly elected populist is likely to take the country as we've seen so many times in 20th-21st century experiences. Their pattern is to tell people what they want to hear using a tactic called "bait & switch", and what the "switch" becomes is not often entirely predictable.

If I had to guess, he'll accumulate power and then use that to personally gain politically and economically, thus slipping into fascism. Most fascists historically don't campaign on "I'm a fascist!" and immediately institute fascist programs.

Maybe read "Strongmen" by Ruth Ben-Ghiat, political science professor at NYU who is considered an expert on fascism and how they gain and administer power.

Since he has told that he wants total liberalism...I guess it's obvious that there will be a sort of Economic and Political Anarchy.
The total opposite of Fascism.

And millions of people believed in Hitler, Franco, Mussolini, Trump, Bolsonaro, etc.

In my studies on the matter of populism and fascism, I learned that populists simply cannot be trusted, however it sometimes takes several years for the truth to be realized by the masses. Already Milei has been attacking and threatening the press, and that should be an ample enough warning of what yet may come down the pike.

I can imagine.
Whereas Obama has never done anything wrong, right?

Why would you bring that up as I never said nor implied this? **mod edit** Fortunately, my Sicilian wife doesn't resort to such disingenuous and blatantly immoral tactics.

I'm done.
