In my view, it must be. If it wasn't "his" will there would be no rape, torture, and murder of children, or anyone else for that matter.

The Creator of our existence is a verifiable sadist.

You may be right, but I have a hard time telling the difference between these two entities. If they aren't one and the same then why doesn't God stop the suffering?
Because god doesn't care. What god wants is people to pray to him. The more people who pray to him the more power they give him. He wants to see them beg him to him. I honestly think god likes to watch people suffer.

It would not be Satan's will. If god is all powerful wouldn't god stop those from harming other people? Think about it. He lets it happen because he does not care.
Or it could be God wants them to go through hell for a second on earth before an eternity of pleasure, euphoria, and joy...

...yes...God may be cruel no doubt, but if he knows a hundred years from now we won't care what we went through on earth and even be happy about the trials and suffering (once we've been rewarded for them), it doesn't bother him to watch us suffer here....because to him, our suffering is over in a second.

I know if I'm rewarded something I do feel better about it if I worked or suffered for it, rather than it just being handed to me...If our suffering was for a long time in the eyes of eternity, God might care. But since our nightmare on this earth is but a second to him, I assume he doesn't care about how excruciating that second is compared to eternity, because he knows in a second we wont care either.

In the end, none of us know the reasons for God's cruelty, but there is a reoccurring promise of great reward in heaven for afflictions on earth.

Pope,

Sadism in the name of future rewards seems to be just a bit cray-cray and, as I have posted many times, sick.

Pardon the huge cut and paste -
God's will is universal eternal peace and love. To accomplish it, he has purposed essentially the swiftest possible reality check -giving us over to that which is not of him and his righteousness due to constant rejection of him and his righteousness.
However -all that is now will be healed/nullified -yet we will have been purified and made perfect. It is how any temptation of imperfection will be completely removed.
It is extremely harsh -but it is how we will be made gods.

Rom 8:21 Because the creature itself also shall be delivered from the bondage of corruption into the glorious liberty of the children of God.

Deu 30:19 I call heaven and earth to record this day against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing:
therefore choose life, that both thou and thy seed may live:

Deu 28:14 And thou shalt not go aside from any of the words which I command thee this day, to the right hand, or to the left, to go after other gods to serve them.
Deu 28:15 But it shall come to pass, if thou wilt not hearken unto the voice of the LORD thy God, to observe to do all his commandments and his statutes which I command thee this day; that all these curses shall come upon thee, and overtake thee:

Deu 28:20 The LORD shall send upon thee cursing, vexation, and rebuke, in all that thou settest thine hand unto for to do, until thou be destroyed, and until thou perish quickly; because of the wickedness of thy doings, whereby thou hast forsaken me.
Deu 28:21 The LORD shall make the pestilence cleave unto thee, until he have consumed thee from off the land, whither thou goest to possess it.
Deu 28:22 The LORD shall smite thee with a consumption, and with a fever, and with an inflammation, and with an extreme burning, and with the sword, and with blasting, and with mildew; and they shall pursue thee until thou perish.
Deu 28:23 And thy heaven that is over thy head shall be brass, and the earth that is under thee shall be iron.
Deu 28:24 The LORD shall make the rain of thy land powder and dust: from heaven shall it come down upon thee, until thou be destroyed.
Deu 28:25 The LORD shall cause thee to be smitten before thine enemies: thou shalt go out one way against them, and flee seven ways before them: and shalt be removed into all the kingdoms of the earth.
Deu 28:26 And thy carcase shall be meat unto all fowls of the air, and unto the beasts of the earth, and no man shall fray them away.
Deu 28:27 The LORD will smite thee with the botch of Egypt, and with the emerods, and with the scab, and with the itch, whereof thou canst not be healed.
Deu 28:28 The LORD shall smite thee with madness, and blindness, and astonishment of heart:
Deu 28:29 And thou shalt grope at noonday, as the blind gropeth in darkness, and thou shalt not prosper in thy ways: and thou shalt be only oppressed and spoiled evermore, and no man shall save thee.
Deu 28:30 Thou shalt betroth a wife, and another man shall lie with her: thou shalt build an house, and thou shalt not dwell therein: thou shalt plant a vineyard, and shalt not gather the grapes thereof.
Deu 28:31 Thine ox shall be slain before thine eyes, and thou shalt not eat thereof: thine *** shall be violently taken away from before thy face, and shall not be restored to thee: thy sheep shall be given unto thine enemies, and thou shalt have none to rescue them.
Deu 28:32 Thy sons and thy daughters shall be given unto another people, and thine eyes shall look, and fail with longing for them all the day long: and there shall be no might in thine hand.
Deu 28:33 The fruit of thy land, and all thy labours, shall a nation which thou knowest not eat up; and thou shalt be only oppressed and crushed alway:
Deu 28:34 So that thou shalt be mad for the sight of thine eyes which thou shalt see.
Deu 28:35 The LORD shall smite thee in the knees, and in the legs, with a sore botch that cannot be healed, from the sole of thy foot unto the top of thy head.
Deu 28:36 The LORD shall bring thee, and thy king which thou shalt set over thee, unto a nation which neither thou nor thy fathers have known; and there shalt thou serve other gods, wood and stone.
Deu 28:37 And thou shalt become an astonishment, a proverb, and a byword, among all nations whither the LORD shall lead thee.
Deu 28:38 Thou shalt carry much seed out into the field, and shalt gather but little in; for the locust shall consume it.
Deu 28:39 Thou shalt plant vineyards, and dress them, but shalt neither drink of the wine, nor gather the grapes; for the worms shall eat them.
Deu 28:40 Thou shalt have olive trees throughout all thy coasts, but thou shalt not anoint thyself with the oil; for thine olive shall cast his fruit.
Deu 28:41 Thou shalt beget sons and daughters, but thou shalt not enjoy them; for they shall go into captivity.
Deu 28:42 All thy trees and fruit of thy land shall the locust consume.
Deu 28:43 The stranger that is within thee shall get up above thee very high; and thou shalt come down very low.
Deu 28:44 He shall lend to thee, and thou shalt not lend to him: he shall be the head, and thou shalt be the tail.
Deu 28:45 Moreover all these curses shall come upon thee, and shall pursue thee, and overtake thee, till thou be destroyed; because thou hearkenedst not unto the voice of the LORD thy God, to keep his commandments and his statutes which he commanded thee:
Deu 28:46 And they shall be upon thee for a sign and for a wonder, and upon thy seed for ever.
Deu 28:47 Because thou servedst not the LORD thy God with joyfulness, and with gladness of heart, for the abundance of all things;
Deu 28:48 Therefore shalt thou serve thine enemies which the LORD shall send against thee, in hunger, and in thirst, and in nakedness, and in want of all things: and he shall put a yoke of iron upon thy neck, until he have destroyed thee.
Deu 28:49 The LORD shall bring a nation against thee from far, from the end of the earth, as swift as the eagle flieth; a nation whose tongue thou shalt not understand;
Deu 28:50 A nation of fierce countenance, which shall not regard the person of the old, nor shew favour to the young:
Deu 28:51 And he shall eat the fruit of thy cattle, and the fruit of thy land, until thou be destroyed: which also shall not leave thee either corn, wine, or oil, or the increase of thy kine, or flocks of thy sheep, until he have destroyed thee.
Deu 28:52 And he shall besiege thee in all thy gates, until thy high and fenced walls come down, wherein thou trustedst, throughout all thy land: and he shall besiege thee in all thy gates throughout all thy land, which the LORD thy God hath given thee.
Deu 28:53 And thou shalt eat the fruit of thine own body, the flesh of thy sons and of thy daughters, which the LORD thy God hath given thee, in the siege, and in the straitness, wherewith thine enemies shall distress thee:
Deu 28:54 So that the man that is tender among you, and very delicate, his eye shall be evil toward his brother, and toward the wife of his bosom, and toward the remnant of his children which he shall leave:
Deu 28:55 So that he will not give to any of them of the flesh of his children whom he shall eat: because he hath nothing left him in the siege, and in the straitness, wherewith thine enemies shall distress thee in all thy gates.
Deu 28:56 The tender and delicate woman among you, which would not adventure to set the sole of her foot upon the ground for delicateness and tenderness, her eye shall be evil toward the husband of her bosom, and toward her son, and toward her daughter,
Deu 28:57 And toward her young one that cometh out from between her feet, and toward her children which she shall bear: for she shall eat them for want of all things secretly in the siege and straitness, wherewith thine enemy shall distress thee in thy gates.
Deu 28:58 If thou wilt not observe to do all the words of this law that are written in this book, that thou mayest fear this glorious and fearful name, THE LORD THY GOD;
Deu 28:59 Then the LORD will make thy plagues wonderful, and the plagues of thy seed, even great plagues, and of long continuance, and sore sicknesses, and of long continuance.
Deu 28:60 Moreover he will bring upon thee all the diseases of Egypt, which thou wast afraid of; and they shall cleave unto thee.
Deu 28:61 Also every sickness, and every plague, which is not written in the book of this law, them will the LORD bring upon thee, until thou be destroyed.
Deu 28:62 And ye shall be left few in number, whereas ye were as the stars of heaven for multitude; because thou wouldest not obey the voice of the LORD thy God.
Deu 28:63 And it shall come to pass, that as the LORD rejoiced over you to do you good, and to multiply you; so the LORD will rejoice over you to destroy you, and to bring you to nought; and ye shall be plucked from off the land whither thou goest to possess it.
Deu 28:64 And the LORD shall scatter thee among all people, from the one end of the earth even unto the other; and there thou shalt serve other gods, which neither thou nor thy fathers have known, even wood and stone.
Deu 28:65 And among these nations shalt thou find no ease, neither shall the sole of thy foot have rest: but the LORD shall give thee there a trembling heart, and failing of eyes, and sorrow of mind:
Deu 28:66 And thy life shall hang in doubt before thee; and thou shalt fear day and night, and shalt have none assurance of thy life:
Deu 28:67 In the morning thou shalt say, Would God it were even! and at even thou shalt say, Would God it were morning! for the fear of thine heart wherewith thou shalt fear, and for the sight of thine eyes which thou shalt see.

Deu 30:1 And it shall come to pass, when all these things are come upon thee, the blessing and the curse, which I have set before thee, and thou shalt call them to mind among all the nations, whither the LORD thy God hath driven thee,
Deu 30:2 And shalt return unto the LORD thy God, and shalt obey his voice according to all that I command thee this day, thou and thy children, with all thine heart, and with all thy soul;
Deu 30:3 That then the LORD thy God will turn thy captivity, and have compassion upon thee, and will return and gather thee from all the nations, whither the LORD thy God hath scattered thee.

Rev 22:3 And there shall be no more curse: but the throne of God and of the Lamb shall be in it; and his servants shall serve him:
Rev 22:4 And they shall see his face; and his name shall be in their foreheads.
Rev 22:5 And there shall be no night there; and they need no candle, neither light of the sun; for the Lord God giveth them light: and they shall reign for ever and ever.

Rev 21:3 And I heard a great voice out of heaven saying, Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and he will dwell with them, and they shall be his people, and God himself shall be with them, and be their God.
Rev 21:4 And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.

Rev 21:5 And he that sat upon the throne said, Behold, I make all things new. And he said unto me, Write: for these words are true and faithful.
Rev 21:6 And he said unto me, It is done. I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end. I will give unto him that is athirst of the fountain of the water of life freely.
Rev 21:7 He that overcometh shall inherit all things; and I will be his God, and he shall be my son.

Isa 65:17 For, behold, I create new heavens and a new earth: and the former shall not be remembered, nor come into mind.
Isa 65:18 But be ye glad and rejoice for ever in that which I create:

Yes, it seems cray cray...just because God is cray cray and a jerk sometimes doesn't mean he doesn't exhist....

I never understood that rationale "God is a jerk therefore he doesn't exist." If Donald Trump is a jerk does that mean he doesn't exist?

I've never said God doesn't exist. I do believe in a creator of some kind. :)

I was just going to edit the post as you were posting...

I wasn't saying that was your rationale...I was just making the comment that there are a lot of people who think that since one only has to look at the condition of the world to know that God is an apathetic, cruel jerk, sadist, and narcissist ( by our standards) that goes to show that God doesn't exist.

Who gave us the ability to decide that a sadistic God who wants people to suffer (for reward) can't exist? To some of us that may sound "Sick"...but to God it doesn't seem sick...so, he gets to define "Sick" as he wants to :)

'kay, but that still doesn't make God right.

He is not a benevolent entity, which he proves every hour of every day all over the world.

He may like Drama, excitement, tragedy, action, sorrow, and comedy...most videos (that aren't comedies or pornography) that people enjoy watching contain something, sad, tragic, sorrowful, cruel, violent, or disgusting...I don't feel like researching it, but I wonder what the plot is in the ten most popular videos of all time...Guarenteed if it isn't a comedy, something absolutely terrible is happening somewhere in the video, and without that, it wouldn't be interesting watching.

It doesn't make God right by your standards , but he is right by his standards...or he is too weak to help...one or the other.

Etri,

Your post is so long I don't want to read it.

Can you summarize in a paragraph or two?
There is a story in the bible of a guy who slipped and touched the ark when he wasn't supposed to -or something like that -I forget exactly. Anyway -he pretty much dropped dead. It may seem harsh -and it sort of was -but that guy is gonna be just fine one day. His death was one event in the old testament which had a psychological effect on those who remained alive while the old testament/covenant things were happening. The old covenant itself was never going to work out -perhaps there was a slight chance all of Israel would keep their part of the covenant -but it certainly didn't work out that way -but it did work/do what it was supposed to do.
Everything back then was in preparation for what followed -with the new testament/covenant.
However -everything that happened back then will be reversed. People slain with the jawbone of an ox -burned by fire being called down from heaven -killed by the sword -whatever -are all going to be just fine one day -but the situation which will exist that one day when they will be just fine -when EVERYthing will be just fine -could not be without all that preceded it.

Better all of this happening now -resulting in it never happening again and adverse effects being nullified -than letting billions of errant wills cause misery for eternity.

The present won't exist later -nor will the adverse effects or memory of it. Only the positive will remain.

God will do something about every last thing. Meanwhile, we are learning to do something about it.

I believe the Bible makes it clear God is never responsible for wickedness. "It is unthinkable for the true God to act wickedly, For the Almighty to do wrong."
In post #5 I made the following argument to the thread's topic question Q. "Is it God's will when children are raped tortured, and murdered?"

A. In as much as god is aware of such acts (he's omniscient) and could stop them if he wished (he's omnipotent) but chooses not to (evinced by the fact that they happen), it's obviously it's his will that they take place.

So yes, it is god's will that children are raped, tortured, and murdered.
If I've made some mistake in my argument here please point it out. If you can't then I assume it's correct, and because, as you say, "It is unthinkable for the true God to act wickedly, For the Almighty to do wrong" the implication is that you believe that god's will that children are raped, tortured, and murdered is not wrong, but right.

It is right that god permits children to be raped, tortured, and murdered.

I await a reply that directly addresses my request. If you have none we'll take it as an admission that I'm right here: It is god's will that children are raped, tortured, and murdered. And it is right that god permits children to be raped, tortured, and murdered.

Corporeal resurrection is absurd. We blew $12 grand on a funeral for my brother, who believed such things when we should have cremated him in a cardboard box for 2k sans embalming.

Wasting mortal funds in hopes of immortal rewards is insane. We should live within our means and in the here and now.

The promise of immortality is most accurately addressed in the famous phrase "there's a sucker born every minute".

I don't waste my time on the "what ifs". I'm too busy trying to cope with the present reality vs. the fairy tale.

The OT is full of smitings and sacrifices; murder and genocide, all with God's approval, if not at His command. Apparently he approves.
he NT tells us that not a sparrow falls that God isn't aware of, so he obviously knows what's going on and does nothing to stop it. He either approves or doesn't care

The Old Testament God said He was repentant of killing off nearly everyone. It's the New Testament God who threatens to burn the whole place down without a single apology.
This sounds like a very human God. A God who changes His mind? Why would He do this if He was omniscient; if He knew beforehand that He'd regret it?
