I apologise for the click baity title.
But I'm sure we've all heard at one point or another that our favourite piece of entertainment was teaching us something bad or influencing us to join Satan or otherwise "promoting evil."
So I thought it might be fun to share a favourite "crazy" argument against your favourite TV show, movie, video game, book or even music.

I think mine is the whole "Pokemon is demonic and teaching kids evolution" from the 90s. Special shout out to Jonathan "The Mac" Macintosh for his tweet comparing Pokemon Go with Dogfighting.
Just lol.

So what is your favourite or perhaps just the most ridiculous argument you have heard against something you enjoy?

When I was a little kid, a family friend advised my mom not to allow me to watch any cartoons that had characters with glowing eyes because it was "satanic". Also Teen Wolf and Transformers were also "satanic" for some reason or another. Of course my mom disregarded her recommendations. This same lady also became quite livid when I innocently and playfully suggested that her barn was haunted and proceeded to scold me and ramble about Jesus' name, demonic spirits, and such. Her son who was about my age was also rather racist, asking me why I had black G.I. Joe figures among my collection and suggested that I paint them white with model paint. I of course didn't.

Many things which people "enjoy" contribute to the present state of the world -which few would consider ideal.

Whether demons have influence or not, everything has an effect -and children are obviously being adversely affected.

It is one thing to mock the idea of a spirit realm, but if you think electronics, media, etc., are not used as weapons, recruiting tools and mass-manipulation devices, you are rather naive.

Those demons taught me English. TV is a two edged weapon (means could be good or bad). This specially includes the press which I believe more toxic these days.

As for kids shows, in my community, yes, it does hurt. We're a modest community and kids shows these days show so much skin and inappropriate behavior. Works for me tho :p

Of course electronics are used as recruiting tools. Even Terrorists live in the 21st century.

But sometimes trying to protect kids can go a tad too far. Not to mention a lot of the time concerns would be assuaged with using some basic deconstruction skills on said concerning thing or even just reading/watching/hearing said concerning thing in context.
I once saw a News interview of a concerned parent wanting to ban Fahrenheit 451 because and I quote "it made the firefighters look bad."
Umm interesting interpretation to be sure but probably not the actual point of the novel. (Unless Ray Bradbury is an anti firefighter activist!)

Marilyn Manson is the Devil incarnate himself.
Games like Magic: The Gathering and Dungeons and Dragons involve devil worship and demon conjuring.
Pokemon is evil because it's based on evolution and the goal of the game is to become a master but Jesus is the only master.
Harry Potter (though I never got into) teaches kids witchcraft and how to cast spells.
Too many bands to individually list (Slayer, Hatebreed, and Rammstein are the first three that come to mind) that I listen to have been accused of being Nazis.
I've heard Elfen Lied described as pornographic. On that same note, after I saw Fellowship of the Ring when it came out in theaters, I overheard some lady say "sometimes the violence is just as bad as the nudity."
To my mom, pretty much any game with a female character was sexualizing and objectifying women.
My mom confiscated my copy of Disturbed's "The Sickness" just because of the pictures of the face-thingies on the CD.
If I spent some more time thinking about it, I'm sure I could come up with some good examples because I've heard a ton of them.
Such as, the Simpsons is a terrible show that teaches kids to mock god and disobey their parents and Bart Simpson is the spawn of Satan. And then a few years later along comes South Park and suddenly the Simpsons didn't seem so bad.

Damn! You must be a super quadruple baby eating Satanist Nazi by now! :p

Lol my mum tried to ban me from watching the Simpsons as a kid. (Doesn't really work if you have a TV in your room.)
But I think she accidentally got it confused with Family Guy because she caught an Ep a few years later and was like "oh THATS the Simpsons?!"

Sure, the media can manipulate with misinformation. But the satanic panic and other redneck fantasies? Naw, son. Naw.

I grew up with Pokemon and Harry Potter. Both of which were "demonic" or "promoted evolution". Some people also called Yu-Gi-Oh! evil, because creatures were brought to life via cards and holograms.

I'm pretty sure there was someone out there who said Gargoyles or Power Rangers was evil in some form or another.

Ye Gods! I forgot about the Satanic Panic. How dumb can society really get?

My mom didn't have a problem with me watching Gargoyles (but she was so unreasonably strict about pretty much everything else that I ended up watching the entire series before I dared to watch it while she was around - the goes for the Cartoon Network edit of Dragon Ball Z), but Power Rangers was strictly off limits.

The fact that "the prince of the power of the air" "now worketh in the children of disobedience" is also manifested in panic about him.

It is similar to powers-that-be in the human realm not caring how they are perceived as long as they maintain control -so they encourage and manipulate even negative perceptions and peoples' actions in response to those perceptions.

Yah -kid -yah -they like to psalm 64 their words in an attempt to gain intelligence and control.

Covert -trick -look it up.

Foil protects against it, though, right?
