Zen means meditation and in meditation the mind does not function. The idea of conversion comes from the mind. True Zen is achived when the mind is not there.
Zen is about practice and not conversion. |

Friend Kkorleski,
Firstly your statement 'converting to Zen- buddhism' Just bring more awareness around it. Coversion means exchanging like currency. Here one should say yes, now I like to look into another WAY and see if that helps reach the goal. Example I am just a simple ordinary human who is neither a christian, buddhist, hindu, zen, tao etc. Read whatever comes my way but mostly do NOTHING. Even given up the goal of seeking MOKSH anymore. Just try and live in the present. Yes, if you are talking about joining some Zen school; I cannot answere that but am sure google could help you there. Just be open to all WAYS and accept/ follow whatever you like anywhere iresspective of it being christian/buddhism/etc. Love & rgds |

It's ok, the're just being pedantic. To say one is converting is an accepted phrase. Generally though one just says "I'm taking up Zen" or I practice Buddhism etc. Even though socialy, Buddhism is classed as a religion, in reality it is not. So there is nothing to convert to.

After that, it's just like trying to get to Carnegie Hall - practice, practice, practice.

Conversion means to change, from one thing to another. In actuality, all of us are converting all of the time. We just don't recognize it unless there is a marker. Even if one recognizes that one always was Buddha, the decision to take up the practice of Buddhism is a significant change that most people can recognize. It is a conversion.
Isn't it also attachment to resist words that one doesn't like?

Friends,
Some of you are right in your own way but human mind is used to conditioning of being a Christian/buddhist/etc. If all understands that part then am sure their is perfect understanding about Conversion/ Change. Love & rgds |
