Wow cool. I think you are the first UU Jew I have ever met. Were you Jewish first and than found UU or UU and found Judism? Tell us the story bet it is neat. Nice to meet you.

Hi. Thanks. Both of my parents were born and raised by Jewish parents on Judaism. On one side, I come from a long line of rabbis. My greatgrandfather on the other side was a locally well-known Socialist. From his picture, he looked like a very sweet version of Einstein. Unfortunately, my home life was extremely chaotic and broken, so I didn't put most of this together until significantly later. Then, when I was a pre-teen, my mother (who was raising us alone, the one with the socialist grandfather) spoke of UUism, but of course never did anything about it. I was 31 by the time I first entered a UU Church, with all of those huge religious banners draped along both walls near the ceiling. It was Halloween time, and the Young Adults group had a small, wonderful ceremony commemorating the Pagan holiday. I felt both inspired and at home. And of course there's more to the story.
