Relativity was a tremendous leap foreward in our understanding of the Universe, but Albert could only go so far before the continuing advance of our understanding began to make him feel uncomfortable. The Universe just kept looking wierder and wierder.
Once, when the discoveries of quantum physics seemed too strange even for him, he erupted in a fit of pique, stating: "God does not play dice with the Universe."

It's now generally accepted that He does...
