Question Grateful for education!
Hi,

Just joined this message board to discuss one of my favourite topics.

Personally, I believe in no religion and strongly disagree with the idea of any form of organised religion which I see as socially accepted cults (hope I don't offend anyone here... I really don't mean to!!! )

I also do not believe in any god, soul, spirit, greater being or life after death etc.... although.... I do not rule out the 'possibility' that there could be a greater being/creator (I just personally do not believe in one)

If anyone could get in touch (whatever beliefs)... not for a debate but to educate me as much as possible on the different religions/beliefs (past and present)... their origins and development etc. I would be very interested to listen to you.

I also recommend that every listens to my 'god' Bill Hicks as soon as you can! (Bill was a comic who died 10 years ago but whos words ring soooooo true to this day). His philosophies (life, morals, sex, religion, porn, drugs, politics) for me is as good as it gets. Anyone who wants to discuss Bill too I'd love to hear from you ;-)

Thanks for the warm welcome.

I'm pretty ignorant to the following if you could all help :

Christianity... Catholics & Prot's. Pagen beliefs (hope I haven't misspelt that!)... was this an actual religion etc. Buddhist beliefs. Islam. Anything you can tell me I'd love to hear.

I'm trying to develop my personal and 'possibly' incorrect beliefs (remote ha ha) about religions... why people 'need' or end up looking for external hope. Things like... what's the logic behind believing in a particular religion when we look back for instance and 'laugh' at Egyptian or Greek beliefs as crazy. Where did the written forms of religion (Bible etc) actually come from.

If I can better understand about the different religions (past, present even future) I can strengthen my current reasonings or be open minded enough to evolve my current beliefs.

Thankyou people.

By the way... I assume that most people here found the board through following a religion and not the other way round... so I'm looking forward to some good ideas I haven't heard for religions... above such arguments as not to question one's faith etc.
