It seemed appropriate to greet people before leaping into discussion. Greetings.
I've never felt the need for a god, or several gods, and so the concept has never really been important to me, though I can understand how others would believe. When I did eventually encounter religion [other than stamp collecting at Sunday School, which for me was more about the stamps than the stories] I found it difficult and unnecessary to believe. It does, however, seem to be a point which is discussed frequently amongst people, with much effort put in by all sides. Religion finally became interesting once I began studying history at uni, as it was a great influence upon the population and was the cause (and justification) of many great and/or horrific decisions. I'm working on a paper at the moment which looks at perceptions of characters in the Arthurian legends with regard to the religious outlook of Europe in the middle ages. I came here in order to chase a possible lead, however it seems like an interesting place to stay. |

Welcome! I found the religious symbolism in Sir Gawain and the Green Knight interesting when we read it in school.
