I've just discovered this place. It looks very interesting so far.
![]() Izdaari is pronounced Iz-DAHR-ee. It's random pseudo-Swahili and doesn't mean anything, but I like it and it's unique. You can call me Iz or Izzy, whichever you like, but please not Izd, which sounds ugly and violates the syllable break. I like to say I'm a Christ-follower rather than a Christian. It means the same thing, but doesn't carry so much baggage. I'm familiar with and sympathetic to a number of non-Christian traditions. In particular, I've learned much from Taoism and Zen Buddhism. Of course I think my religion is best, else I'd have chosen a different one, but as C.S. Lewis puts it: "If you are a Christian, you are free to think that all these religions, even the queerest ones, contain at least some hint of the truth." And my own particular flavor of Christianity is certainly much influenced by C.S. Lewis. It is orthodox in that it conforms to what he calls "mere Christianity", i.e. that which has been believed by nearly all Christians since the beginning of the faith. I tend to be more conservative than not on doctrine, but I side with liberals on attitude in that I think Christianity should be as tolerant, loving and inclusive as possible, following Jesus' own example. I am charismatic and "emerging church", the combination of which makes up my favorite new buzzword, "charismissional", which I find very apt. I'm looking forward to getting to know you all and to having many good conversations. ![]() God bless! Izzy |
