No priests do not make much. Diocesan Priests do make a few thousand dollars yearly, but priests of a religious order can very well make absolutely nothing - all they have is owned in communion and the order takes care of them.

It takes typically 8 years of studies at a seminary before becoming an ordained priest. And, it is not just a "job", it is more of a "calling". Some people are called by God to live a life of poverty, chastity, and obedience for the sake of Jesus Christ and to promote the Gospel. Not everyone is called - many are instead called to married life. But some are called to be celibate for the sake of the Kingdom of God.

I don't believe that thing about being "called." I do however believe that others believe it...

I shoud be a Nun. What do you have to do to be a Nun??
