John,
I posted a welcome way back when you "rejoined" us, but I've just got to tell you that of all our newbies (yeah, you're still one of them), you are my favorite. I have enjoyed your posts so much. Not only do you always have something worthwhile to say, you are articulate in how you present your point of view and, from everything I've seen so far, very respectful of other people's beliefs. I guess that comes from your UU faith. ![]()

WOW! Post from beyond the grave! Thanks Katzpur. To be honest, though, the views I hold isn't because I'm a UU... I'm a UU because I hold these views.
*Note to self: In addition to Christian Bible, Qu'ran, and The Upanisads, must read Book o' Mormon* *P.S. to the Above Note: Learn to speed read before tackling the Urantia Book.* |

Welcome. I have a question do Unitarian Universalists believe in the Trinity and the divinity of Jesus?

... Thank you.
![]() To answer your question Te Deum; Unitarian Universalism originated from two protestant religions... Unitarianism - which rejected the doctrine of the trinity Universalism - which believed in Universal salvation. While both of these protestant religions were fairly liberal to begin with, when the two joined in the 1970's, the theology of both religions caused a movement towards tolerating and accepting non-Christian beliefs as well. Now, we accept almost all religious beliefs in our congregation, so long as they are life affirming and humane. We have Wiccans, Humanists, Muslims, Jews, Buddhist, and - yes - we still have Christians as well. We also utilize teachings from all the world's spiritual traditions. You could say that we are a "big tent" religion... there are a few things we won't tolerate, though. Sexism, Racism, Homophobia, and Intolerance are simply not welcome, regardless of which religion's robes it wears. Also, nihilism tends not to go over very well; we tend to believe that all human life has meaning, even if we have to make that meaning for ourselves. Does that answer your question? |
