Hi.
I am an ex-Pentecostal atheist. If any of you are ex-Pentecostals, particularly Oneness or Holiness Pentecostals, you know where I've come from. I do not have an official religion. After leaving Pentecostalism, I've been scared to death to pick up an official religion, though Unitarian Universalism intrigues me. Though I am an atheist, religion interests me, and I have spiritual inclinations. I am drawn to the ritual and community of church. I am considering trying out an Episcopalian church, as I like the ritual of Catholicism, but I don't like the fact that they don't have open communion and they tend to be more close minded. I know, it's strange, an atheist that likes to try out different churches. I wouldn't call myself spiritual so as not to confuse people. The term "spiritual" seems to imply a duality of soul and matter, perhaps a god or spiritual ultimate reality, in which I do not believe. I am, however, very concerned with morality, I like ritual, and I'm working on creating fulfilling secular rituals. I'm also very philosophical. I hope to enjoy the forums. James |

Welcome James. You'll find a wide array of differing viewpoints on matters "spiritual" here at RF.

Welcome. I have never felt that nontheism is antithetical to spirituality, which concerns innermost awareness, but "atheism" can be if you decide to flow in the hateful spirit of being against GOD and religion.
Anyway, hope you like it here. |

Well well well, I also am an ex-Pentecostal Atheist. I left faith 12 years ago, considered myself to be Agnostic for 11 years, only recently considered myself to be an Atheist. Welcome to the forums man.
