The latter was born from the former. Both are given the cold shoulder by moderate and conservative Christians and they continue to hold fairly strong ties.

Over here we don't have UU in any sizeable form so any potential UUs go to CU groups instead.

You are right, however, that there are important differences and American CU might be different to British CU.

I'm English, Unitarianism has its modern organised origins in Romania during the Protestant reformation, when Calvinist Bishop Ferenc Dávid in the 16 th C could find no Biblical evidence for the trinity, he was persecuted as a heretic, eventually abandoned Christianity and died in prison.

I am a Christian because it is my cultural heritage and because I choose to follow the teachings of Jesus Christ.

However I have issues with the anti-scientific or anti-rational nature of many Christian churches and a strong commitment to Interfaith and the individual's unique path to G_d, and respect for all beliefs even where I don't agree with them.
