Wandered in
Greetings from another newbie!
I find myself thinking about religious topics quite a lot, and a place like this allows me to work thorough that with other interested souls. The screen name refers to my rather unfortunate penchant for veering off-topic. It also fits in that I wandered away from the religious moorings of my youth. Raised in a loving Southern Baptist family, I had the strange irony of seeing my childhood faith crumble while taking religion class at the world’s largest Baptist university. It’s a long, boring story, but the short version is that the Biblical inerrancy belief – a virtual lynchpin of my faith – just disintegrated, and most of the rest swirled away shortly after. I entered years of bitter agnosticism, a little of which I still hold. During my cyber-travels, I discovered that much of what I now believe fits nicely with Deism. For me, it is much more peaceful to have a perspective that aligns with the reality I observe and to let go of beliefs that strain reason. Despite an occasional sarcastic bent, I’m mostly harmless. I enjoy sites like this one and look forward to chatting with you all. "In the beginning, the universe was created.
