Hello all. My name is Lindsey and I'm an 18 year old atheist from Texas. I'm really boring, actually. I spend way too much time reading, sewing, knitting, and hanging out with my family. My sister is an atheist also, but we have christian parents. Our parents are rather passive christians. They don't go to church or celebrate their faith. Our mother has recently taken up discussing her religion a tad bit more, in hopes of converting us back to her side.
My religious journey has been interesting. I really think I was an atheist from my first thoughts, but I had only known christianity. So, I stuck with going to a Lutheran church from a young age and "knew" I was on the right path. Around seventh grade, I developed my own religious mind. I've thought a lot about religion since then, I've also discussed religion a lot since then. In late eighth grade-early ninth grade, my friend convinced me that God was real, and that I needed to attend church. So, I allowed her to "save" me at a slumber party in her bedroom at midnight. I then went to a Baptist church for the next year or so. For the first month, perhaps, I actually went in an actual attempt to believe in God. After that, I only went because it was time spent with my then-boyfriend. Sometime during all this mess I met my current boyfriend and began discussing religion with him. He is, surprise, an atheist as well. Talking to him really reaffirmed my disbelief in any God/gods. Since then I've only gotten stronger in my disbelief. Now when I look back on the way I felt, I never felt the presence of a God like many people believe they do. It has never seemed logical to me that a God or gods would exist. My parents and family have always prided me in my intelligence, but when that intelligence interferes with their desires for my beliefs, they don't like it. Anywho, I suppose that's an appropriate introduction. If you have anything else you'd like to know, just ask. I'm quite an open book. |

Sewing, however, I can sew anything you'd like me to. I've been sewing for about four years, though. |
