Thank you for the warm welcomes!
I guess I will tell you a little about me. I am a freshmen in college in the state of Iowa. I love history, especially WWII and the outdoors. At the end of this first college semester I am leaving college to enlist in the military. It is something I have always wanted to do. I am Roman Catholic. My faith is very important to me and is a big part of my life. I feel I have an obligation to get the word out about my experience in my faith. If it is alright with all of you I want to share a story, a story that has made me the person I am today. When I was in 8th grade I had an experience that will be with me to the day I die. My parents had always taken me to church, but when I was young I didn’t really think it was important. Only until 8th grade did I truly and fully try to seek Jesus Christ. I began to pray a lot, I was putting my faith in Him to lead me. So one day my mother picked me up from some school event and we were heading to church. We were about 2 minutes away from church and I was in deep thought about life and were we are all going. I often thought of this among other things. Then all of a sudden these words came to my head “Do not be troubled. Behold, light shall not come from the sun or the moon, but from the Glory of the Lord who shall be your everlasting light and will never fade" As this came to my head, I seriously felt light and felt as though goosebumbs had gone all over my body, I felt brand new. Totally new I am telling you, separate from the body. Fresh, New, Happy lifted, Light, all in one. At that moment I knew it was the presence of God, the Holy Spirit. When we got to church the reading was, Isaiah 60:19, "The sun shall be no more your light by day; neither for brightness shall the moon give light to you: but Yahweh will be to you an everlasting light, and your God your glory."!! When I heard this I gave myself to Christ. I felt as free as I could possibly be. About every minute of every day I think of Him. Thank you for reading my story. |

Hi DiscipleOfChrist,
Welcome to Religiousforums! I like your intro; there's nothing wrong in having deep convictions. It is refreshing to hear someone who is as devoted to his faith as you obviously are. I hope you get to enjoy your time with us; please feel at home, and if there is anything about which you are not sure, please don't hesitate to ask. ![]()
