my mother is a jehovas witness.. (beliefs, follower, Jehovah, choice)

I've just been reading some of the kooky remarks from people posting on this site< quite disturbing! you people should be on popbitch or limbo with your plastic dolls and cat pictures! I came here because my mother has taken up the ways of the witness and I'm seeking some objective opinions about how I should deal with this. I'm not a follower of this belief set, although I do respect the basis behind most religions. She is the only Jehovas Witness in our family, and is facing some severe opinions from various family members. I's like to keep and open mind as I can see this path is bringing her a great deal of comfort, as little as I understand it. For the record, I follow no religion myself.

I see no problem with your mother being a Jehovah's Witness unless it is causing her harm or her family harm. If she is happy and comforted, I would support her, as I would anyone else.

Welcome! I hope your mother's journey with JH does continue to bring her comfort, and that you will be able to support her, whether you share her beliefs or not. Perhaps learning some about them will help you discuss them with her. This is a place with a variety of beliefs and opinions!

As far as your Mom is concerned, I guess it's her choice. Don't worry about her sense of taste; look who she gave birth to!

Like Becky said, if JW make her happy and her joining them doesn't hurt anyone, the why shouldn't she ? The was you wrote your intro, and the question youasked made it sound almost as if she had come down with a nasty ilness...............

Now you're here, why don't you have a look at a few religions (and JW would be a good place to start), so you can talk to your Mom about her faith........
