I am new here. I am a 51 year old male, married, with 5 children. I havebeen involved with several different religions and baptised more than once. I am a former Minister of Jehovah's Witnesses. I left in 1981. I have been quiet about my beliefs except for when someone really appears to me that they want to learn the "Truth" and is prepared to make a serious search with study of various topics on religion and spirituality. I find this fun and intersting. I always learn something new. My 24 year old daughter just recently related some experiences she has had with 2 of her friends that go to what appears to me as a Pentacostle Church. She is having a conflict and has asked me to help her. I have started a study of the Bible with her and this has lit a fire of passion that had left me years decades ago. Don't misunderstand me. I do not believe that any god has anything to do with humans......and the Bible was written by men not the Holy Spirit. I seem to be on the path to becoming an Athiest....or at least a Deist. However I am keeping an open mind during my new search of the "Truth" I am not encouraging my daughter to join me in my beliefs.....but asking her to investigate the Church.....ask questions.....and gain a basic knowledge of the Bible before making any commitments. I came to this forum because I would like to discuss issues keeping an open mind and have some fun.

Hello and welcome!
Many atheists seem to take the same approach to their children's views on spirituality that UU's and most of us pagans seem to- present the child with information on all paths they seem interested in, and encourage them to ask questions those faiths. I celebrate your approach to your daughters' learning experience! Please feel free to check out our article with links for our newer members! Namaste, if it pleases you!

Thankyou everyone. I was so afraid that I would get angry responses,be rejected, and told to go somewhere else. I am actually shocked! Looks like I came to the right forum. I wish I had not remained silent for so long. My daughter and I are very close and I need all the help I can get with our study. I am very familiar with the bible and christian thought because I practiced it half of my 54 years till I felt a great conflict with my conscience .....and what I was being taught by Ministers of the Christian Faith. This has led me to a new research of the bible and I became somewhat lost. WHAT DO I DO NOW!.....I thought. I hope that I can find help here.
