Hi all,
I'm sure the creation in our mind, of a holy god is just humans way to try to answer the mysteries of the universe. I am sure in thousands of years, religion will be diminished. Simply because we will understand so much of the natural world that religous arguements for the presence of a magic being in the sky will be defunct. That, coupled with the 'no show' of any gods, angels, etc. for thousands of years will make people realize that gods are just all human inventions. I love this site. It is so interesting to read how people follow these old ideals and scriptures, and how amazingly blind they follow these beliefs. On one hand, I find it scarey how people can imagine such ideas, seemly invented and supported by themselves. On the other hand, I understand it is natural for us to create the idea of a god. Ancient greeks that many, so did the egyptians. Hindus still have over 1000 gods today. So, I will try not to worry and just realize that it will take a really really long time for people to realize the errors of believing old wives tales, ghost stories and religions. |

I realize it will take people very long to realize the errors of their ways and return to the truth of religion, and abandon such flawed human creations as science.

I echo Darkdale, but I still hope you have fun debating here.

Science can't teach people how to live; it has no wisdom. Science is about knowledge, about understanding the natural world... this is not the business of religion.

I'm a Hindu and I don't have >1,000 Gods! Or, perhaps, I should say that I, personally, have not chosen to imagine, thus realize, such a celestial menagerie. ![]() Welcome to the forums, tom_mich. ![]() |

I have never committed any crime. Do anything to help others. Have auto- deductions from my bank account to chosen charities, and I didn't need a religion to tell me how to live.
Honesty, care, respect for life all came from my parents values. Religion does educate some people on how to live, but obvsiouly Christians can still be criminals, even Mr. Bush starts wars that kills tens of thousands of people. I am merely pointing out that science is understanding and knowledge, and some of these sciences are brand new and booming. We can manipulate life and soon create life, and if we discover that life can be started naturally, which we already have good supporting facts it should, then eventually, not 100 years, not perhaps 1000 years, but in 10,000 or 20,000 years, I cannot see how people will still believe in god when we will know so much. Why is it that the greeks no longer believe in Zeus? |

To Seyorni:
I will say that I like Hindu more than the other religions. I don't like the way Christians sin, and then believe a simple confession makes it all ok (yes...I KNOW how it all works). Hindu is better in that you are weighed on all your lifes sins (well at least that is the way I percieve it works from my time I have spent in India). So people I found are so peaceful and happy, even those living in poverty. Buddism also has these similar peaceful values, where ALL sins are weighed and judged. Again, I don't believe in the exsitance of a god, but find it facinating the way people all over the world believe in so many different things. |
